are you seriously trying to suggest that mister blobby is not one of the most influential artists of the last millennium? where would chris martin be without the mentoring of the legends that are renee and renata?

Artists who make one record and then you never hear of them again.

MIMS springs to mind, his first (and only song) was wack but he sold a hella of a lota records but he can't come up with any more material.

Others like The Sugar Hill Gang and Vanilla Ice also make me mad. So commercial.

Nah, when I get into the rap game (in a few months) I will be staying there for sure.

references to sugar hill gang and vanilla ice seem weird to me for a 17 year old-in order to understand their popularity at the time you really had to be there methinks.

Nah.

I know the rap game inside out. (serious)

Another major one-hit-wonder is J Kwon.

What an entire thread about one hit wonders and not one
mention of Rick Astley!???!
I am glad I rectified that...........

think you miss my point-we can look back now and laugh at the white suits being cool in the "saturday night fever" era but at the time it was the epitome of cool-if you didnt live through that time you really cannot objectively judge it-at the time of "ice ice baby" what vanilla ice did certainly WASNT commercial-it was very new and fresh-hated it myself but you cant judge that from 2009-its like comparing apples with oranges.

Well he's no stranger to love....:whistling:

jonah lewie is the exception that proves the rule-a man who retired on the proceeds of one single(stop the cavalry) and is still raking it in due to endless christmas compilation albums. in the 70s and 80s the money to be made from one single was astronomical -not like that now of course but many one hit wonders have made fortunes from their one hit as long as they were the writer of the song as well.

It wouldn't be forever though. One-hit-wonder's hype fades quickly and people stop to care.

My hype is endless.

I think this thread failed a bit.

No hate just love x

Not strictly a one hit wonder......Jonah lewie.......he also had a hit(ish) with 'You will always find me in the kitchen at parties'(or summat like that if I remember!!)

However,I do agree that one hit wonders have their place, quite rightly,in music history...............apart from Joe Dolce :x.....stopped 'Vienna' from getting it's deserved no1 status:-(
