Peter Davison will reprise his role as the fifth Doctor for a special Children In Need installment of Doctor Who.

The BBC confirmed that Davison, who originally played the Time Lord between 1981 and 1984, will star alongside current Tardis-dweller David Tennant for a one-off scene written by Steven Moffat entitled 'Time Crash'.

"It is an honour for me to be able to make the connection between the fifth Doctor and the tenth Doctor," 56-year-old Davison told the BBC. "However, now is not the time for sound-bites. I can feel the hand of history on my shoulder, even if I can't do the buttons up!"

Children In Need will air on Friday, November 16 on BBC One.
