You can couple it with Paypal and start today.

I used protx as the card processor when I had both of my businesses.

    Slightly!

£6 for 2 years is more like if for a .co.uk domain.

    £6+ vat guv

    £2.99 per year for a .co.uk
    £9.99 per year for .com

to start a web shop, i recommend doing it yourself e.g. download a package and host it yourself

the best open source e-commerce is magento... hosting can be got for £15 a year so for £21 you can have a fully functional shop
All you would need to do is add the items and modify magento to suit your style, there are quite a few templates you can download to use it as well

Repped very handy for me :-D

where can I get .co.uk domains for £2.99 per year please

    try the following:

    zen cart
    oscommerce

all free shopping cart utilities with payment modules for paypal, etc.

    These are free.

You can get a host company that will install these for you and pay no more than 6 bucks a month

how much is Magneto? i can't seem to find prices for it?

never tried magneto but cs-cart is what i use and its street ahead of the free carts available, however it is $265 so maybe out of your budget depending on what you are doing

I had a play with CS-Cart a couple of years ago. I'd definately agree its nice and easy to use. Are you using a standard skin - or have you managed to customise to appear completely different? (That said, there are loads of skins available to tweak.)

Edit: Kungfu - if that doesnt sound too OTT - have a look ]here. Its a demo of CS cart. At the top, there is a frame to select different skins. You can also get into ]the admin side of CS-Cart and have a play with a live demo and see how you can add items and categories - and generally play about with it.

Just using a standard skin, I didn't really want to change the look too much as I find people like things the same and if they have used a shop that looks familiar they are likely to find mine as easy to navigate.

Using the SEO mod most my products end up on the first page (2nd at worse) of google searching for them within days of me adding them to the site, which is an obvious plus! In some cases higher than boots/superdrug.
