    Ebay

I have submitted a ebay Debenhams outlet deal. No doubt it will be pulled by moderators. So I thought that I would ask why now. It is a good deal, has eleven left in stock and is a big company which just happens to be selling through ebay.

because it's ebay lol, i duno why!

Ebay don't pay referrer commission so HUKD earns nothing. Strangely another "banned" vendor, ebuyer, also don't pay commission. Make of that what you will.

Thank you but those posts are dead now. I am hoping to start a new debate.

However, I would be grateful if you could explain like ebay deals such as the one I posted are not allowed.....

The reality is that Ebay has changed and the old argument no longer apply. This is mainly because Ebay are trying to dissuade private sellers (10% fees plus paypal) and attract private companies. Their stated policy is to become a medium through which companies and not individuals sell.

And this makes perfectly good sense. Companies have plenty of excess stock but they do not want to sell it in the store as people who may buy more expensive items buy the cheaper excess stock instead. If they sell it on Ebay however they do not lost a more profitable customer and they gain one who is more price sensitive.

And I have never seen a mod respond to points such as this.

And you probably never will. The site owner decides what happens and, I imagine, his prime consideration is income generation. That's a sensible business decision.

The major problem with HUKD nowadays is that a real bargain that you can actually buy is as rare as hen's teeth. If people are quite happy getting 5% discounts at Currys where the prices are inflated by 10% and HUKD gets a referrer commission, the HUKD business model will survive. Otherwise the site may well go the way of Friends Reunited (costs exceeding revenue!).

You are probably right. Really good deals are rare and when they do occur are often misprices which few people if any get.

And I agree about the business model. It just annoys me that some people hide behind things like integrity etc. This site is all about money. That is fine but do not hide it.

Oddly, one of the best things about HUKD is the For Sale/For Trade part, where the site doesn't make any money!

And, to be fair to the site owner, he's not as openly money-orientated as ebay although I'm sure he'd like to find a way of generating more income. ;-)
