eBay Advice needed!

Hey,

I'm currently trying to sell my Nokia N95 8GB on eBay, which i put on for a 3 day auction. Anyway, i've been offered 270£ from "ChelseaBabe08" (http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/chelseababe08&sspagename=ADME:X:AAQ:UK:12) who is based in Lithuania.

Obviously it's a smashing offer, but then i hear about how you shouldn't sell stuff to Nigeria and whatever, wondering if selling it to her would be fine, or is there right for doubt in my mind?

Cheers!

agreed with above

just be carefull if they pay you via paypal make sure you log in to ur paypal via ebay or the site itself
what ever you dont dont log in from the email you get sent as it could be a spam.

if its credited in ur paypal account and there address shows confirmed i seriousley wouldnt worry.

id be very careful people set up various accounts and then submit feedback so it looks like they are great , the scammers are getting very good , i once had a man want me to send the car i was selling he wrekoned hed give me an extra £5,000 for shipping on reciept of car ! whos he kidding ? my dads friend sold something and recived what he belived was a real bankers draft so let them take it away , bankers draft was returned by bank as forgery next day

hw does this member plan on paying you? via ebay or away from ebay? how do you plan on sending the phone?

Looking at It I would say its most likely a hacked account. Looking at the feedback that stopped 18 months ago. I wouldn't send it. But I always state only ship to uk in my adverts.

ChelseaBabe08 I would suggest is a strange name for someone outside the uk
Looks like a hijacked account to me
Tell them if they pay by western union you will send, don't accept paypal

do not send abroad

paypal do not insure you for it

they will throw in a item not recieved and you lose money & phone

or

they will tell their bank it was unauthorised

sending abroad is not safe with paypal

ask them for a bank transfer

The eBayer said they'd pay through paypal and as for sending would be via Parcelforce, so it'd be tracked throughout its delivery.

I'd only sell it through ebay and not out of it.

:shock:Western union, safe:whistling: Why take the risk:oops:

You wont get an item not received as it will be a hijacked account. The ebay user will have used the same password for his paypal account and If like lots of people have there credit card details saved wont know he has been charged for these things until he gets his bill next month.

i wouldnt trust em at all, like mentioned before all it takes is for them to issue a dispute either claimin non receipt or item not asdescribed and paypal almost always decides in there favour and there will be your money gone.

or even use a hacked paypal acct which would get chargeback anyways as fraud

either way youd ultimatly end up with no phone and no money

theres a small possability its legit but for that amount of money not worth the risk imho

What do you mean by that? WU is perfectly safe for the OP and there is no risk at all using it for them, it's by far the safest way.

I'm an eBay Powerseller.....
What you have to watch for is.. You send the phone once the payment goes through PayPal, they then say they haven't received the item. Paypal being the tossers they are ALWAYS side with the buyer so they refund them the money back.. You can not leave NEG feedback anymore so you can't warn others besides leaving a warning in the feedback....

The thing to do... Send item so it needs a signature (expensive but make them pay it), as soon as payment goes into Paypal withdraw it to your bank account, don't send the item for 2 days after you have done this (4-5 working days to get to your account) The phone will be travelling whilst the money is in cyberspace..

If it is a scam you'll still have the money and if Paypal try and refund it, change account.:whistling:

This is a rare scam but it does happen believe me.... Better safe than sorry..

Western Union IS NOT SAFE !!! You'll look a fool trying to cash it when it's been cancelled...

Just keep it on ebay and let them bid on it...

But it would be too easy to send a fake email making it look like the op had been paid:whistling:

and your paypal account will then be frozen, cant believe your even considering it, but each to their own, and now its time for me to go to bed so gooodluck and goodnight x

Stay well clear, I have been selling refurbished electricals for years on ebay (over 32,000 feedback), I now won't sell to most african countries and even some europe because of Fraud...

Even if it appears genuine, in a weeks time you could have paypal email you saying their account was hacked and so we have reveresed the transaction, even though the address is confirmed and you have withdrawn the money paypal still have the right to take the money back from you...you'll still gewt reasonable money for that phone in the UK so don't take the risk...

oh and deffinately avoid western union.....just stick to the UK for an item like that, there is far to many horor stories.....

A wise man once said if a deal seams too good to be true, it usually is (not the best thing to say on this site

i definately wouldnt send it , it does look like its been hacked into as if you look at feedback left for others they bought shoes from racingblonde who lives in uk ....according to feedback left for racingblonde by chelseababe : arrived next day. 08-Jul-05 19:22 really nice shoes. great ebayer. thanks
how can they arrive next day if posted from uk to lithuania ?:)

Well for a start, WU don't send emails, the OP would collect the money before sending the phone, so where exactly is the risk?

Zootaga;2942865

oh and deffinately avoid western union.

Why?

The only way I would do this deal is if they sent me a nice bundle of crisp £20 notes first, and we know that's not going to happen!

heres how WU works

Buyer goes and pays cash to WU office
Buyer sends their details and MTCN to seller
Seller goes to local WU office and collects cash
Seller sends phone

Impossible to do a chargeback, impossible for the seller to have the money taken back. There is no safer way, even a bank transfer can be recalled.

Jerry123;2942877

u will NEVER get paid. Id advise you to stay well clearIf you DO agree to … u will NEVER get paid. Id advise you to stay well clearIf you DO agree to sell it and receive an email from paypal.... send the Email to [email protected] to see if its fake or not.

That email address is rubbish, it sends an auto response saying the email is fake, try sending a real one to them see what happens

If you visit the Western Union website, it clearly states Western Union is NOT to be used for sending money to people you don't know.

That sounds lovely, haha.

Well, i checked out Paypal, and sellers are only insured by buyers who are come UK, US and Canada.

So, i've asked if they would be willing for a Western Union transfer, if not then i'll just leave it and let the bidding go on.

Hi log onto ebay and ask this guy how he was paid he has also just sold a phone to her and has left her feed back hours later

They wont pay by WU anyway as its a scam.
