Ebay Advice - unconfirmed Address? whats the best thing to do?

i just sold some tickets for the killers on ebay,

the guy who bought them has an unconfirmed address, and it says im not eliagble for sellers protection.

item No. 150086842563

just wondering what to do?

his feedback looks fine and looks like alright.

any advise would be really helpful. should a refund and get him to send a cheque?

what sort of options do i have?

Cheers,

Landofdan

Best bet is to get in contact with him, see if he seems a genuine guy

i'm no expert but, i would ask the buyer for home address and home telephone number so that you can confirm there address with them.

don't know if anyone else will say otherwise, or disagree with me though

if using paypal, withdraw all the funds from your account, and wait until it's in the bank account (let the buyer know you are doing this)

then if anything does go wrong, paypal can't get the money back straight from your account

not good advice reaps, if you do that you WILL have to pay it back

Sorry about the confusion with the 'other' post and my PM box being full.

According to Ebay's T&C's and Paypals U/A you are within your rights to refund the buyer and ask them to either Verify their Paypal account and confirm their address with Paypal or ask for an alternative payment method.

If it was me, I'd be asking for a BACS payment. That is the safest payment method for a seller.

He may be able to Verify his account and confirm his address in plenty of time for the concert.

Sorry, but this is wrong and very bad advice. Paypal will put your account overdrawn and expect you to clear it.

i dont see problem with unconfirmed address, some banks can be funny, half the things ive sold on ebay the buyer has had unconfirmed address and i never had problems!

It's not so much the unconfirmed address that's the problem, it's the lack of Paypals seller protection.
Without a Verified account and a confirmed address the seller cannot qualify for seller protection. Without seller protection the buyer could claim his Credit Card had been compromised and Paypal would just refund him.
With Seller protection, Paypal would not be so quick to refund and in most cases will fight in your 'corner'.
This is a £175 payment.

yeah sure dino i get your point but from storys i hear the buyer is normally the winner in those situations

spot on....it took 2 mins to verify my gf's account. You just supply a phone number registered to the same address as the bank card used for payment, you get an automated call where you type in a number given by paypal...job done.

Each 'story' is different. Seller protection WILL protect the seller if they follow the simple instructions regarding posting the item.

Can you not get payment by cheque and then wait for it to clear before posting the tickets? Or alternatively ask them to send postal orders?

Yes, those will/should be OK. I'd go for BACS though. If they are sent to the address registered with ebay then I don't see any problems.
The only problem here is Paypal. They have a very stringent U/A and if you don't follow it you could lose a lot of money.
