eBay and Royal Mail Advice Wanted - Parcels Not Signed For

Good morning,

I'm hoping to get a little advice on the following please:

Lately loads of my parcels which I send using Royal Mails' Signed For service are not being tracked properly. In the past few months it seems approximately 2 out 10 parcels which I send still say they are with Royal Mail.

I haven't had any complaints yet and a couple of people who I did contact confirmed that they had received their items, however as I'm sure you can appreciate I cannot ask all my buyers this question.

The item just says under the tracking information that it was posted at such as place and its with them, on its way.

Now this also leads me to another issue, what happens if a buyer claims a item didn't arrive when it did? I know I should be able to claim back the funds by Royal Mail however that is really difficult as they don't make it easy!

Also I am paying for a service which I'm not receiving. Does anyone have any advice and does this happen to you?

I have contacted Royal Mail once about this issue asking them what has happened with some consignments (I gave the tracking details), they said they must have gone missing and to make a claim but how can I claim when I know some have been delivered?

Royal Mail signed for is no longer tracked. There is just a signature and it may take time for them to update their systems.

Don't worry about it, if you get someone saying their item has not arrived then look into it further, but in the mean time don't stress over it as this is normal, especially this time of year.

Thanks for your response.

Yes, sorry I realize that they are not tracked, however it should have a signature upon delivery - which is not happening.

Its rather frustrating because I'm paying for the service and it happens so frequently.

If you pay for signed for and they don't get it signed you can go online and fill out a claim form - r85 I think it is. I've done it twice this year, luckily the items did arrive but no signatures were obtained therefore I may as well have paid for and sent by trap pony. You fill the form online, print out, sign and post to them with the receipt to show postage paid (freepost)
We got sent book of 6 first class stamps each time but this is the minimum they send.
They send either refund of postage you paid or book of 6 first class stamps - whichever is the highest value.

Here's the link for you

You just need to select inland or international about halfway down the page then it will direct you to the right steps to take / form to fill out

I had the opposite problem - my parcel didn't arrive and yet it stated it had benn signed for. Luckily whoever signed spelt our name incorrectly and the sending company accepted this and refunded.
I have also has aprcels left in our front porch that should have been signed for - not a problem for me as I received the goods, but the sender is not getting the service they require as you say!

i have the same question too. as i received many recorded small parcels in the letterbox. since that time i stopped using royal mail and now prefer couriers.

Happened to me earlier this year and last week. I sold my Destiny XBOX One game and posted it 1st class recorded. The buyer received the game and signed for it the very next day but to this date the tracking online has never said it was received or signed for. So like people say your happy they receive it and are honest because the tracking for items this year has been pointless.

Don't under any circumstance contact your buyers and ask if they have received their items! Even if they have some will claim none receipt as soon as they realise tracking doesn't show delivered. I no longer use RM for this very reason, couriers will track from the moment you book the parcel.
