Can anyone explain why people bid so high on this item:

ebay.co.uk/itm…ff2

While there's exactly identical, from trusted seller with few times more feedback available for much less as buy now?

ebay.co.uk/itm…206

Even this one is already cheaper including delivery:

ebay.co.uk/itm…477

I've seen this happening quite often, are people just get some auction fever lose mind to outbid everyone else?

Probably got people bidding on it for them! happens a lot nowadays. Gone are the days that you get a real bargin on ebay!!

It's puzzling I know. Some people bid higher for second hand goods than what a new one would cost.

everyday thousands of items go for a £1 or less when worth a lot more, how much under a pound does something have to be for you to consider it a "real bargain"

Can work the other way. Friend tried to sell a car on eBay twice but it never made the reserve of £400. He then placed it on for a buy it now of £550 and sold in 10mins. Just crazy sometimes

I can understand some people just not looking anywhere else (even though I bought few things brand new from Amazon for less than used went on ebay), but bidding 310 on auction for an item available for 275 right below?

I buy from eBay and i have to admit I never check the Buy it now.

who has £300 to spend on sealed lego??

people get tunnel vision and start bidding over the odds without considering alternatives
i often see people paying more for nearly new stuff from randoms than amazon sell it for new, which proves to me that many people just assume eBay is the cheapest place and therefore they can bid anything and still bag a bargain!!

Lemmings! - once the bidding starts - the Lemmings follow . When I sold on EBay the auction item nearly always went for more than the same "Buy it now " item I had on sale at the same time . Similar to the voting on here very often

i found out many years ago.
items i was bidding was won by some else, two weeks later it was back in ebay with same photoes. that is not just one item, many items.
alot of the bid is by the seller's phantom friend bid.
i never really bother that much nowaday bidding on ebay. i would just do buy it now
even if i do, i will put roughly what the item worth and not more.
alot of people just go crazy (don't know how much the items worth) on max bid. that is why finish bid price is so high

This may be shill bidding which is illegal so check if same "buyers" are bidding on other items from the same seller. eBay may even prosecute which can carry a prison sentence. Anyhow, LEGO are opening their outlet shop on eBay on 01MAR which will put an end to resellers selling sets for more than RRP. Even certain retired sets will be available in limited quantities at their old RRP.

Yes, my issue is people posting misinformation.

Go ahead, make a shill bid on eBay, tell them and let us all know what they say. Some of you lot really think you know it all. Shill bidding is fraud, simple as.

I heard that Police takes it even more seriously than "Not to be combined with other offers" Tesco Frozen Pizza voucher claims!

This guy tried bidding on his daughter's My Little Pony set to bump the price up by £2.15 and look what happened:

Them fraudsters make me sick! What kind of twisted-minded, perverted individual would ever attempt such a thing.
