Ebay buyers never cease to amaze me

Got a message this afternoon from a buyer who bought something from me last weekend ...

Hi there, you have my item marked as shipped and i paid as soon as i ordered it so theirs no reason for you to not have left me good feedback. If you are waiting to see my feedback first then i will leave bad feedback. no matter what i have to say about you or your product it doesnt change that i am a good buyer and pay very fast

    Huh!

Had a look at their feedback, they've been a member for 6 years and have 42 feedback,5 of which they have received in the last few hours so I assume all their recent sellers have got the same message and rushed to pacify them,

They didn't get one from me though nor are they going to! Nope, not a chance,

Haven't decided yet if I'm going to reply to their message,it was an international delivery so I'm not sure if they have received the item yet,by wording of their message it doesn't sound like it,maybe that was deliberate so they have the option to pull the INR trick if I don't comply with their demands, not too bothered as it was only a really cheapie item so wasn't sent tracked,

Funny thing is I generally do leave buyers feedback once I post their item and leave it up to them what feedback they choose to leave, this one though I hadn't got around to doing,

Nice to see their true colours though

but after a snotty letter like that - tell em to stuff it... lol

I used to wait till they confirmed receipt etc but then got to thinking no point cos I can't say anything bad about them anyhow,

Thats the 1st message I've ever received openly stating they plan to neg me if I don't leave them feedback 1st,I was right taken aback at their cheek

I do that.... I like to ensure the CUSTOMER is happy with their purchase before leaving feedback..

my rule with feedback is simple, if im a buyer then i leave feedback when i've recieved the item and tested it out for a week or 2, when im a seller i wait till the other party leaves feedback, just in case they have a problem with the product or want to play some kinda trick.

    what an odd person!
You could always leave them feedback to keep the buyer happy and then once you receive their feedback then you could leave a further comment on their feedback saying the buyer made you leave instant feedback and was a bit rude.

Ok,so if they pull a trick how is feedback gonna help

You could read the feedback they have left others

For me as a buyer, I leave feedback for the seller on receipt of the item. I expect the seller to leave me feedback only after I have left them feedback as it seems only fair that they leave it after the transaction (including delivery) is entirely complete and know that they haven't been conned or anything.

TBH the buyer is kind of right, they have upheld their side of the deal, paid on time etc.....

The way it's mainly done now is seller leaves first or not at all, as you can only leave positive comments anyway, you can't say anything bad about them or the trade.

So it's just easier to leave once they have all paid and then forget about it, if you get a plum, you get one nothing you can say about it on fb.

Some sellers have stopped giving fb for this reason as it's kind of meaningless, but it sure hacks some buyers off! Seen negs for it before that have stuck.

See that's just silly, cause you will get a neg now. Ok the buyer is hysterical, some get like it more so now, that's why a lot of sellers resort to one of the 2 systems above ^^^^^.

Tbh if that were me I would have just left it apologised for the delay and moved on, after all a bad neg and dsr's will cost you :-( that's ebay.

I completely agree with you, it's concerning, but the thing is that as a seller the only thing you can do is either leave them a positive or nothing at all - if I had your super feedback I would want to keep it 100% so probably do as he asks and leave the positive, or you could possibly report them to eBay for blackmail.

Its feedback extortion keep the email and if they leave you Neg feedback then report them. I never leave feedback as a seller until the buyer has left feedback then i know the transaction is complete and final. Theres nothing to stop this buyer leaving you a neg anyway even if you leave them a positive.

I wouldn't count your chickens............it's not fb extortion as they are not trying to ge money/goods from you.

If they neg you and say refused fb or whatever, ebay won't remove it as it's factual and represents the buyers feelings seen it loads of times, they say they will, then they won't, then they will, I hope they do, don't count on it though.

I don't think sellers should leave feedback first,

Feedback for a buyer doesn't just entail how quickly they have paid

they can pull all sorts of stunts, claiming non receipt, chargebacks, swapping item, removing parts they need to fix something they already have then claim faulty, etc etc

    +1
Buyer pays in full, end of.

I never leave feedback for any seller that doesn't leave me feedback as a good buyer.

i leave feedback after they paid, or when i receive item and i am happy with it, feedback isn't meant to be a tit-for-tat affair.

so was it you sent me that message then :whistling:

    I think your wrong BTW

I'm on Grabbit's side, but I have to tell someone that I got my best eBay bargain EVER today. A £100 voucher for a beauty salon near my brother's house for £10 delivered and I used my eBay plus points voucher so it was free. Soooooo happy.

I never leave feedback if someone wishes, asks, moans, winges, blackmails or emails. I used to leave a neg but as I can only leave pos to a buyer I don't bother now. I will leave feedback when I want, can be bothered or in the mood and not when someone dictates to.

I agree that you should leave feedback when you receive payment.

However, I'm with you on ignoring the threat.

I'd even look at forwarding the threat to ebay immediately so they know immediately what the buyer is doing.

Feedback is about the whole tranaction experience not just if the buyer pays quickly..

What if they try and scam you,you can't change feedback once left,

    Original Poster

Well I've told him he isn't getting any feedback so we'll see now if he carries out his threat

Once the buyer pays, I leave positive feedback. That's on ebay and on here. The buyer has upheld their part of the bargain, and if there are any problems with delivery, I will sort it out to ensure I get a positive in return.

People that don't leave feedback boil me to be honest. There is no reason why you shouldn't give them a positive to start with.
