eBay can go to hell

Sold a DVD, got £1.04 for it. Oh, joy.

Paypal fees: 24p
eBay fees: 12p
2nd class large stamp: 44p
Jiffy: 15p

Total Outgoings: 95p
Total Income: 104p
Profit: 11p

Seriously, what a crock. Don't ever sell on eBay. It's just not worth it.

Your profit will be 9p...not 11p...even more shocking!

Long live HUKD, forget about Ebay.

starsparkle2311;5557673

I haven't sold anything on there for ages, because of that

+1 ebay is a buying place only for me. For hard to find items.

How do you get to the post office? Unless you walk the 9p profit will be gone!

I am a firm believer in the fact that eBay don't want you back.

I think they want to end up with the large volume sellers and are deliberately driving out the smaller seller for their own gain.

Why bother putting the dvds on ebay in the first place then you must of known what the going rate for the dvd was before you listed it ?

BTW what DVD was it? Just to get an idea how mucho you could have gotten here?

Just out of interest what DVD was it?

Just dont sed it, refun the payment, take the negative feedback and just dont bother sellingn.

Mike

Sorry, but I disagree.
Paypal fees: 24p
eBay fees: 12p
These were the only fees to eBay. The rest was down to you. How much did you charge for P&P?
Try re-using envelopes etc.. Postage charged would have covered stamps etc..

That's why I don't sell any items on there that you gotta offer free P&P for unless i know I'm going get a fair bit for it. 99p items just not worth it.

come on "fess up".What DVD did you sell that was only worth £1.04p ?

Aptly enough, it was Scum.

sorry for mentioning this but i think that would be a loss as you dont consider:

- the cost of making/obtaining the dvd
- your labour

Looks like the best option now. I'll show them these maths to try and justify why I'm scrapping all the sales and hopefully sweet-talk my way out of negs, but if I do get them, it's fine. I shan't be selling on eBay ever again after this.

Probably doesnt help that it has been on the Tv several times in the past few weeks,Just bad timing as i thought you would have got a bit more,

Couldnt agree more...I was about to sell all my DvD's on Ebay when they did the postage free thing, just isnt worth the effort now, so its the car booty for me.

I stand corrected in this case. Haven't sold a DVD/CD on there for years so didn't know that ruling.

I suspect that a "made" DVD wouldn't be allowed. As far as "labour" is concerned I don't think OP has a sweatshop to worry about.

boothy;5557932

He can do what he wants, but next will come the 'booho I've just won something on eBAy for £1.04 and the seller won't send it' threads. (not directed at OP just in general)

If you put something up for sale on eBay you should either be prepared to send it whatever it sells for or stick a starting price on it that you are willing to take.

Preperation is the key where eBAy is concerned, do your homework before listing. That way you will not be disappointed.

And the replys will be contact ebay about the scumbag, leave him a neg, i hate sellers like that ,blar blar blar you just cannot win on here.

I was going to suggest that, but most times you would just end up paying listing fees and not selling the item as most want a bargain and will not bid at the right price. Again, just money down the pan, straight into ebay's coffers.
I seriously think that any item that requires forced free P+P should not be sold on ebay. Don't put your dvds on ebay is the simple answer. Try ebid, or another auction house.

Scum has been in £ shops too which doesnt help the price,

Guaranteed listing fees that way. Besdies, I had about 40 discs to list and get rid of, I didn't want to spend hours searching for every item for a going-rate price before listing it all.

However the OP can do this if he so wishes it's his choice and I think the key point is here he does not care and does not intend to sell again so it won't effect him.Annoying for the buyers and sellers should research, but the fact remains if he does not want to send he does not have to, but no that does not make it "right"

No, I do care, and absolutely did intend to sell again. I really hate backing out of deals and letting people down. This case here though, I feel like I've been completely screwed over by eBay (and, to an extent, the buyers - would've only been an extra 50p if they wanted to pay for the postage), and the volume of the sales is just so high that it feels quite painful to go through with the deals. I actually sold 18 DVDs yesterday, to 16 different buyers. Unfortunately, eBay have just put me into the position that it's not worth spending my afternoon packaging up DVDs and sending them out at a profit of 9p a pop, and if that's going to cost me my seller's account and annoying a lot of people, it's a shame but that'll have to be the case.

Well, I can. It just means I might get kicked off eBay, so I won't be able to sell DVDs for 9p again.

Aye, true. Thing is, it's not the final listing price I have a problem with, it's just the epic bumming that eBay gave me after it. I think I only paid about £3 for Scum. £1 is fine for it. 9p though, its just not worth the effort.

The problem is you have sold something that isnt worth anything ,you wouldnt expect to sell a pound coin for 99p and then charge 50p postage,Who would buy it?.As said this has been on the TV a lot recently and even in the pound shops,There are currently 100 copies on ebay and most havent even had a 99p bid,Just because you are selling something and wanting it to be worth more doesnt mean it will ,thats the whole point of an auction site you get what it is worth to the buyers,

try selling that dvd on here, if you get any interest before you use up your 3 bumps it'll be to tell you that its a pound at the poundshop.

good riddance to a seller that doesn't do any reseacrh into what they are selling and who would cancel the deal just because they don't get what they think they should.

Unfortunately its sellers such as yourselt that has turned ebay into the mess it has by forcing ebay to bring in ridiculous rules and fees to cover the few bad apples that give it a bad name.

you know exactly what i meant, no need to hide between technicality...

the first point is on the cost of the DVD whatever OP get it from, either made it or bought it..

as for labour, dont you think OP's time and efforts of packing the DVD, walking to the PO worth anything? remember the minimum wage is around £5 per hour, depending on age!

i hope that clarify my points
