Hi

Im sure there are loads of Ebay guru's here so wanted to ask a quick question qbout ebay feedback. Recently i ordered a product and the item never arrived. I contacted the seller and no replies. Many others did the same so after about three/four weeks of nothing i left negative feedback. After about a week and after i put in a payapl claim back the seller contacted me and paid my funds back. he then left me negative just because i left him negative. I did nothing wrong so can this be right that even if they mess you around and terrible service they can still leave you negative feed back out of spite??

No to fair if this is so.

That is the trouble with E-Bay, unscrupulous sellers can hold you to ransom with the threat of negative feedback. I'm sure that you can respond to negative feedback but, only the other party can remove it and it still lists as "feedback mutually removed"

Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do about it. There are some sellers who abuse the feedback system, but by the same token there are some buyers who do the same.

You can leave a follow up comment. Be polite and just say something like "This is a retaliatory feedback. Paid for item but never received it. No comms from seller"

Try not to let it upset you though, as a buyer a negative feedback will have very little impact.

I had one similar and I had only left him neutral! He then wanted me to withdraw the feedback and I have refused. I think most people actually read the feedback. I trust someone more who has kept the negative feedback instead of it being hidden away.

Exactly. Feedback blackmail only works if you give into it.

many thanks for your answers

I bought something recently which turned out to be faulty. Had to go through PayPal dispute to get my money back - the seller was very unpleasant.

His initial response was to tell me that he wouldn't do anything about it, and that if I left negative feedback for him, he would have it removed and I would have a "fraudulent feedback" strike against my name!!

Idiot.
