    ebay help!

Sold a starter pack on ebay, the buyer claims he never recieved it. But i see he has just recieved neg feedback as he also sold one and the buyer did not recieve it. He then claimed off me via ebay/paypal.

not alot im afraid, always send recorded for peace of mind. ebay will nearly always favour the buyer if you cant prove it was delivered.

If you don't have proof of delivery, you can't do anything.

What do you mean about the neg feedback,i don't get it?

Paypal has refunded them, however it seems as if the person i sold too has had it delivered to someone else, then says to ebay that he hasnt recieved it, so i think he is trying it on, I will see if i can ring ebay or will that not work?

God,i'm being dense, you said he has neg feedback for it lol

ill give you a free number for paypal that no one is aware of!!! 0800 358 7929. whenever you post something, get a proof of posting, its free!!!!!!! At the end of your ebay listing say 'if item is lost, i will send you proof of posting so you can claim from post office'.

Noreen80 dont talk rubbish. That disclaimer means nothing. Ebay make the rules, not you.

Just send him a recorded letter that once he sign's you have proof of postage :-)

After all if he's a scammer then you are scamming him back.

Unfortunately ringing eBay will do nothing, it's a "he said, she said" case in their eyes
Your best bet is to be cooperative and apologetic with the buyer, refund, file a lost item form with Royal Mail and politely ask the buyer for any details you may need to fill out the form.
It may take a while for Royal Mail to compensate but at least you won't be out of pocket!

I hate Ebayers who write things akin to that ^^^^ i won't be held responsible for items missing in the post.I've even seen business sellers with similar terms.

I don't care what your listing says,if you have no proof of delivery Paypal will force you to refund.

why? Apart from the fact it puts people off bidding on your stuff, it means nothing and if I bought something from you and it didn't arrive I would claim from you and win anyway.

I fail to understand your problem here, you sold it, sent it but they never received it, they made a claim. That's exactly how ebay works isn't it.

There is only one person at fault here and I'm afraid it's you for not getting proof of postage or delivery.

The fact that he has a negative for not delivering the same item is totally irrelevant other than that he was probably selling the one you didn't deliver.

The buyer does look a bit dodgy,i've seen their feedback.

You're not referring to what I said are you? As I never stated any seller was responsible for items missing in the post. That lies with the postal service. I simply advised the OP on what I think is the best plan of action in order to not lose out. Proof of delivery is only good enough for a Royal Mail missing item form, eBay will not take notice of it. They require a recorded delivery tracking number to side with the seller. Yes it's harsh, but it's what that place has come to.

How else do you think they should decide claims?

That's not really my place to decide is it? But perhaps anything that doesn't include looking with a half hearted glance at a case before clicking "favour buyer" every time.
I'm just saying, a receipt is proof of postage, i.e. proof that you have indeed sent the item, that's what eBay are querying at the end of the day isn't it?
All I meant is that it's a shame you have to go to all that effort for an incompetent service/ fradulent buyer. I mean the amount of recorded delivery items I have had just put through my letter box and never been asked for a signature is absolutely ridiculous, I have no trust in sending anything anymore which is why I stopped selling on eBay eons ago

And okay deb8z, the ^^^^ pointing to the post above which was mine was a bit misleading.

not really, the buyer says they haven't got it, pop doesn't prove they have - just that you posted it. I would be a bit annoyed if i had to claim for something that hadnt arrived then paypal said, 'oh well they posted it, your loss'

Hey I'm not saying that's the right answer for this, just saying that something else needs to be done, or they need more competent people looking at review cases.
I buy loads on eBay and yeah I would be pretty p***ed if I had to claim for something I didn't receive, but at the end of the day it's the same situation for the seller. Even worse when you see the buyer list that exact same item on eBay a couple of days later and eBay ignore you and can't help when you contact them about this "coincidence"...
Obviously this is a mixture of eBay and Royal Mail needing to sort something out, a different scheme.

I have never ever sold anything via ebay, only ever bought stuff. Wasnt aware that it doesnt make a difference.

damn, ever1 on here is a bit harsh. I have never sold anything on ebay, just bought things. Whenever I see a listing that says 'if item is lost.........' I thought that meant that they couldnt be held responsible. You all need to calm down with the replies to my first comment

If you've never sold on ebay, don't jump into a thread like this giving inaccurate advice. Simple really!

Why bother if it goes missing you just claim off the Post Office instead of Ebay. I only used Tracked methods if it above £46 or a restricted item (Cash,Mobile etc). Save your self the recorded fee it soon mounts up.

True it does rack up, but if you cover the cost in the postage price it's fine. Seller and buyer have a peace of mind and able to track the item if they're wish.

Only started using recorded as a parcel went missing and after putting in a claim in to Royal mail am still awaiting a refund
