Ebay help: regarding seller changing invoice

Banned
i bought an item through ebay (havent paid for it yet) through best offer. the seller was selling at £62 with free delivery. so i made an offer of £50 and the seller accepted. but i then recieved an invoice from the seller with postage on the invoice of £6.99.
is he allowed to do this? because when i made the offer of £50, it said free delivery and no postage costs was mentioned

dont pay via the email invoice - pay via ebay

Contact eBay customer service and see what they do. You'll probably end up with no item but doing it this way prevents you from getting a non-paying buyer strike IIRC and it covers your back as well. Something like this happened to me not so long ago but under different circumstances.

He needs to put the £50 in the +/- charges section (this is separate to the postage costs). I have done this before with no problems ;-) .

login to paypal, click on send money and choose ebay, check how much the total comes up to and you might be able to edit out the postage charge.

i would just give them a ring, there number is on there

sellers details are on the item page:? If you pay on paypals website you can amend the postage price. just sign into paypal via paypal.com then click on send money, on that page there is an option to pay for ebay items click on that then continue to pay through paypal adjust the postage to what it should be, hope that helps

someone beat me to it....you can adjust the postage though I have done it few times before when postage discounts have been offered instead of waiting for invoice

Yep managed to get a number, not picking up but will try tomorrow or contact eBay tomorrow. Thanks

why cant he just send you a new invoice?

Original Poster Banned

I dont think he wants to sell it to me for 50 quid

he has to send you a request to cancel transaction via the resolution centre but then you've lost the item

if you want the item, pay via paypal, edit the postage.
they can't do anything about it except deal with ebay or send the item.

then it isnt an error on his part is it, report him to ebay and neg him, cause he sold one to someone else for £50, probably added the £6-99 postage there too

Original Poster Banned

If I email eBay can they make the seller sell it to me for 50 pounds?

they can't force the seller but they may suspend them, i would advise what I said as your still protected by paypal if the seller doesn't sell you the item.

if he sends you a cancel transaction email via ebay, you can decline it if you wish to buy the item.

nobody can make him sell you anything, but he will get a strike, if you want to, then do as others have said and pay via paypal but i am sure he will send payment back, or maybe even send you something of similiar weight through the post, it aint worth the hassle, report him to ebay

Original Poster Banned

Yes I'll do what you've said lilraul, tomorrow morning I'll pay via paypal and well see what happens from there on

I see your point sassie, I actually don't wang the hassle! I was looking for a quick sale and made the guy an offer but I'll just look around for others, I'm sure there will be others

I recently had the joke twice:

Once from a seller from Germany who sent the correct invoice, but once I had paid claimed that the advised postage cost was not sufficient and I should pay double which I refused. In the end I agreed to cancel the transaction so that she could get back the ebay fees and I left neg feedback

And then again with Savile Row on Ebay. Was listed as free shipment, so was the invoice they sent after the auction end but when going to checkout (kind of their own checkout they force you to use) they added £8 postage. Had to email back and forth until they accepted to honor their offer (was apparently a mistake, the free offer was only for UK but the ebay auction said free email to Europe as well).

Anyway, that to say: Don't accept it, either cancel the transaction or insist on the terms of the auction!

This is the best way forward, don't get caught up in wasting some hours of your precious life dealing with them
