Ebay Question, Low Feedback Buyer !

Just wanted some opinions on the following.

I sold an item 05/03/09 on Ebay with the winner having only 1 Feedback from a year ago. Now in my listing I stated that I require payment or a message of intention within 24Hrs of the auction ending.

Now as I haven't got that and the buyer has only 1 Feedback I have re-listed the item and opened a case with ebay which won't be closed until 7 days pending any responce so the original buyer can still pay if he wanted too.

Is it ok to do this ?. Any opinions ?.

Cheers,

DFN

Have you contacted the buyer ?

Yes, no reply.

I've sold things before and never got payment - offered it to the next highest bidder and simply ignored the original buyer as they didn't meet the criteria of my auction - i.e. cleared payment within 24 hours of listing ended.

I wouldn't be concerned, nor bothering opening a case.

Have to allow 7 days for a buyer to pay. You can't circumnavigate eBay's policies to your own ends i'm afraid.

To be honest you sound like a nightmare seller. I know how fustrating it … To be honest you sound like a nightmare seller. I know how fustrating it is not have npb believe me but 24 hours and relisting has left you open to be reported as a non perfoming seller. Ebay allow 7 days for payment, it's why you cannot start npb process before then. What if they pay tomorrow can you send the item? If not expect a nps strike and a neg. Way to quick to be relisting!

If the listing clearly states 24 hrs for payment, the buyer has read and understood this when they bid the auction and are therefore bound by your terms and conditions - that's my understanding of it. If you don't agree to the seller's T&Cs - don't bid.

Hi, I understand where you're coming from but I don't think its unreasonable to expect at least some form of contact from a buyer within 24Hrs, afterall the buyer/bidder was online at the time of the auction ending, why not contact me if they don't expect to pay within the 24hrs (It's stated on my listing). If the buyer had more recent feedback/activity then I would be more understanding and gave it longer. I've had no complaints so far through my ebay selling, I'm only at 88 though ! Hehe. Thanks for your opinon though !

It happens on ebay, it's annoying, but that's life I guess. What gets me … It happens on ebay, it's annoying, but that's life I guess. What gets me is when they don't pay and don't answer emails but manage to buy from others and leave feedback. The only thing to gain from opening a dispute is maybe getting your final value fee thingy refunded. You never know they may pay tomorrow. Maybe they don't have access to a computer every day, they may have used their work computer to bid.Like moob says just offer it to the next highest bidder. I'd personally give them 7 days to pay up , before doing so though

I understand some don't have interent access at all times but as I said above I would expect some form of contact letting me know when they expect to pay, I imagine they were online at the auction end as the bid was made at the last minute.

I've relisted it now so I can't offer it to the next bidder !.

In the world of ebay it's annoying, I do agree with your point totally, I … In the world of ebay it's annoying, I do agree with your point totally, I always pay up straight away and find it annoying when buyers don't but ebay allow 7 days if you then resell the item it can be a nps if the original buyer pushes it.It's like putting on your listing, "I don't take responsibility for items lost in the post" Means nothing when you list on ebay!

Indeed it's annoying, if I wasn't in need of the funds I would of quite happly given them longer. It's a low rated buyer though and I'm always suspicious of them, I know we all have to start somewhere but still, I expect better.

Thanks again !

The issue with that is - once you've waited the 7 days, and the buyer isn't interested/can't be contacted, it's highly likely that the other potential buyers will also be entirely disinterested.

Sod them I say, if they can't pay up sharpish, they don't deserve the chance to get the item.
