Ebay question - posting something to France

Found 7th Oct 2010
Hi
Ive just sold a game on ebay and despite saying ill only post to the UK someone from France has bought it. I explained I only post to the UK and they asked me to make an exception. Ive looked at the'r feedback and its over 700 and all 100% but I feel a little uneasy basically because I don't know how protected I am through paypal. I also have no idea if I can send something to France by recorded delivery.
Has anyone had any experience of this please? Would really appreciate your help, Thanks

You can send it international signed for.

Is it something unusual, like a certain pottery brand, or something more mainstream like electronics?
Is it valuable?

If valuable and electronic I wouldn't but if not particularly valuable and something that would be hard to get hold of in France I probably would if they have such good feedback.

Oh, I just read that it's a game, so no, I probably wouldn't as they should be able to buy it in France, but I'm paranoid lol.

lol im paranoid too, they have bought this one game about 50 times as well looking at their feedback!

i would cancel the sale,if you stated uk postage only ...dont worry if you get a neg, just respond to it stating the facts...mind you i have sent to France poads and not had a problem, but im not covered if they chargeback so its really hit or miss eh x

Ok, I think ill cancel it, then, thanks for the info

I had a similar experience recently..Even though I kept messaging saying UK only they won the bidding. I was really angry as I had said no so I never posted it.
It has been nearly a month now and he hasn't been in touch yet to ask where it is or for a refund.
I don't usually mind posting abroad if they ask but he was really rude in his messages.

I HATE MY LAPTOP!!IT KEEPS MISSING LETTERS!!!lmao POADS=LOADS x

As long as they pay for the postage you will be covered by Paypal if you send it by International Signed For.

I have posted there ok, I wasnt happy when I sold a psp to Italy tho, I has stated uk only, but made sure I insured it and it got there safe ,

It's not much help stating UK only if you don't update your Ebay preferences to block people you don't ship to from bidding.

If it wasn't expensive and they had good feedback i would have sent it.

You haven't sent it or refunded their payment, don't you think you ought to do one or the other, that's theft oO

As soon as he gets in touch I will refund him..I never agreed to post abroad infact I was very clear that I wouldn't so it's his own fault.

Yes he should have asked but presumably you don't have overseas bidders blocked in your preferences.

But just because a buyer didn't ask doesn't mean you have a right to keep their payment,i can't believe you think you ought to hold onto it until he asks about it.

You'll end up with deserved neg feedback if you're not careful.

He did ask..well more told me which is why I told him i wouldn't post abroad (before the bidding ended) I don't have overseas bidders blocked because I usually don't mind posting abroad if i'm asked in a decent way.
Don't let it stress you..he made a choice to ignore me so let it be a lesson for him.

its already been paid for so doubt thats possible, as for being theft if the buyer was told no shipping abroad and still bidded and paid the onus is on him to contact the seller , i do think that if you have no intentention of sending it you should refund it straight away plus you have already been paid , seller has +ve feedback whats to make you think that he isnt genuine for all you know they could be a games shop/ trader and the game your selling could be in high demand post a link to his account so we can see the amount he has bought before and the dates in between i cant see a scammer ordering 50 games over a few months that are the same scamming and still trading without -ve feedback

p.s. it isnt battletoads is it?

Games are VERY expensive in France. I was shocked as some of the prices. Some were £80. He may have a shop that he sells them to. With that sort of feedback you shouldnt have anything to worry about.

Chill out guys..its not the crime of the century..
Im just a stubborn b***h.. and quite clearly so is he.
All that's gonna happen is he will either put in a claim or message me to say he hasn't recieved his item to which I will reply.. "oh dear they must have got lost in the post..I will refund you"
He will be happy coz he will have his money back and I will be happy because he hasn't got what he wanted by being a rude t**t.
If anything im actually doing myself outta pocket as I have paid insertion fees and final fees.. Dont let it wind you up so much..this is £9 we are talking about..hardly life changing money

Ah,the old, blame the Postal system trick when you haven't actually sent it.

Hi there, if it's payed for, what could possibly go wrong. I'm selling a few things on ebay and been asked to send a pair of shoes to bulgaria.

You are shocking btw - would take you two mins to refund him - sounds like your desperate for cash or else why hold on to £9. No wonder you have someone delivering daily loads of **** to your front door - you sound like a lovely person oO
