I have never sold anything on ebay, so can someone give me a quick idea to the cost of selling a camera for £150 on a typical 7 day ad
ie ebay ad costs etc and paypal costs to recieve payment = what do I get net from a £150 sale
I know I could do the research, but I know there are people on here who willl give me the answer before I get through ebay selling screens

as much as that :w00t:
Is this why seller's postage varies so much - as a way of clawing some money back?

Even the postage costs are capped now. Like the previous reply, you're defo looking at least 10% on final value fees, then theres the listing fees (depending on how you list your item) and then theres the PayPal fee you will pay for using paypal (sorry, I should say forced to use paypal) as a means of payment, which you will pay on the total amount paid to your paypal account.

eBay + PayPal will make a good wack out of it either way....then you have postage costs etc....

Over and above that, the new change to ebays "dispute" process which allows them to be the judge, jury and taker of any cash they deem appropriate from your paypal account or the payment card you have on file, should it be required. In other words, leave yourself open to get shafted left right and centre, by eBay, PayPal and any dodgy buyer. Oh...and the other thing is that you have already posted the goods to them so you will lose those as well.....

other than that, its a great place to buy from! LOL

phew!!
The reason I asked was that I offered to buy a camera lens from someone who had it listed on ebay & lived nearby me. He wanted £150 & I was looking to offer him cash on collection (and he would remove the item off ebay). Trouble is, he still wouldn't negotiate a lot even considering his paypal fees & hassle of posting etc.

ho hum, anyone got one of these or similar out there?

If he's a private seller and he ended the listing and you paid cash on collection you'd save him approximately 21 quid in final value fees and paypal fees.
