I don’t tend to buy from eBay much but the seller sent the incorrect item.

I tried to be amicable and asked them to replace the item with the correct size and collect the incorrect item but they were being difficult. In the end I opened the case with eBay and then they agreed to refund partial money.

They have insisted that I close the case with eBay in various messages and say that they will refund me once I close the case. I was told not to ever do this by my friend.

The item has since been collected by the seller as they advised they would need this to be collected before they can issue a refund.

I have today received a message advising not to worry eBay can see the messages but they need me to close the case before they can issue the refund. Is this correct?

Should I insist on refund first then close the case? And if they still are being funny about it then escalate?

Thanks in advance
