    Ebay refund query

I've had a bit of bad luck recently with ebay purchases not being what they were promised, a recent one being a jumper for my little boy that was described as in good condition but infact arrived with at least 5 stains on it.

I've emailed seller and they've offered to refund cost of jumper but not postage-is that right? I'm just not sure why I should lose out having paid postage on a top that's unwearable? I've offered to return item but again at their cost.

    Thanks for any clarification x

Yeah that seems to be the ebay way. I'd take the refund - saves you the cost of returning the item.

If you go through ebay/paypal you will get a refund of the full price paid (jumper + postage) but you will have to return it and pay the return postage costs yourself.

Not certain but think its down to the buyer to pay postage if returning something for a refund unless you get a nice seller who will agree to cover the return postage , have you asked them for cover of postage ? they should really oblige if the item is in such poor condition tbh, i agree why should you be out of pocket ..............but thats the joys of Ebay !!

they should ask you to return at your cost and then refund the jumper and initial postage. So they are letting you keep the item and you are paying the same amount (as long as the amount they charged for postage was fair). I also think you should leave positive feedback or no feedback as they are doing whats right

Can't say I agree with that, the seller sent a stained jumper and stated it was in good condition. Why should the buyer be out of pocket for the postage costs for a seller's mistake/dishonesty?

because they followed the rules. I buy alot and have had sales go wrong but would only leave negative if they didnt go along with ebay rules and weren't apologetic. They werent being dishonest there is no point in them doing that. People have different definitions of "good quality" I would make sure they had good pictures to show the condition if buying used

leave positive feedback for a jumper thats stained and not as described ? whatever next... oO

Have you tried to reason with them and ask for the postage as they have mis-sold the item? if they still dont, just leave them crap feedback. and as stated above only buy items with good quality photos and clear returns policy upfront in the future.

I would take this to ebay/paypal... as the item you have received is not as described. It is down to the seller to state as accurately as possible the condition of the item, and if they fail to do that then they are at fault.

So the fact that postage is down to the buyer, the buyer would not have paid all costs for the item if they knew it was in said condition.

I dunno mb its just me looking at this wrong but I wouldnt be happy paying for something dirty that was described as clean.... would you buy knickers in the same condition and leave positve feedback?

    no

Thanks for all comments-as I stated in original post it was described as being in good condition but was not. They clearly said they were willing to refund the actual cost only-not the postage. Therefore now it's been verified by yourselves I might aswell accept that rather than return as I still lose out on postage!
    Thanks x

I was gonna say if anyone is buying used knickers on ebay they probably want them stained

I had to change my preference after getting thrown out of my local gym for sniffing the seats on the used gym equipment!

Hails I dont see why you should loose out on postage because the seller sent you an item that doesnt meet the listing description.

Ask them nicely again to meet postage costs, if not excalate it to ebay, see what they say, you have nothing to loose!

    Here endeth my two pennies....
