Ebay Watchers

Is it me, or does anyone else get disheartened when you have a few watchers of an ebay item of yours, but then you don't have:

* Any bids
* Any offers
* Any sales

I know when it comes to bids, you tend to get the few chancers who think they are going to win an item that you know should sell well, for example, a brand new phone (barring any scams etc!) for the opening bid of 1p or something stupid. Then there is nothing in the middle, until the last day/hour/few minutes when it seems the whole world has woken up, logged on to ebay and are bidding on your item!

It just seems to me, which is probably the case, that at least 80% of watchers have the same item either selling/to sell and are seeing how mine is going/does to see what they should do with their listing.

Another thing I find "upsetting" (bit of a drama queen word there, hence the quotes! The phrase "Lack of a better word" comes into play here!) is when your number of watchers goes down! I don't mind when I have more than one item on a listing, it then gets a watcher, then one of the items is sold, then the number of watchers goes down by one, as I link that to being the seller who is no longer watching the item as they no longer have a need to. I may be wrong with that, but that's the way I view it.

So, is it just me? Should I not care as much? Should I wait until the listing is nearer to closing? Or am I right to feel so hurt by you cruel ebay watcherererers out there! YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!

Anyone got any thoughts/comments on this?

When I'm looking for something I might watch 5 or 6 items and see which ones go for the best price.

Also I watch something and occasionally miss the end time, or miss out on bidding if I have to go out unexpectedly (which happens to me alot lately).

If that happens and it hasnt sold I wait for a relisting so I can buy it next time round though.

I've noticed alot of people waiting till the last minutes recently, it happens on all my listings and to be fair I do it myself. Just make sure your start price is one that your happy with to begin with, and you cant go wrong.

Good luck ebaying ;-)

I watch items simply because I want to see how much they finally sell for, Gives me a rough idea for my stuff etc.

^ Did you know you can search for completed listings? just go to the advanced search and select it there...no having to wait for ones you are watching to end

I agree then you have some idea how much the item is worth before being silly in your prices.

Thanks for that great tip!!!!!!!!!

I actually had someone message me yesterday who won a record and advised he was upset and complained because all my records finished at the same time and he didn't get the chance to bid on them.

I just advised that this happens when bidding at the last minute and pointed him towards proxy bidding.

Yeah I did, But I find its easier to keep track of the certain items by saving/watching them, When it finishes, If bids are canceled etc.

Thanks though! :thumbsup:
