Ebay.....anyone experienced this????

I sold something on Ebay on Saturday under a Buy It Now well i sent invoice and winning bidder notification which i always do with whatever it is i sell.

I emailed yesterday for rough payment time they would pay by so i could get it all boxed up, labelled for courier, and ive had no payment and no response, now i know its only 3 days but its starting to worry me a bit as not even so much as an email from them, i would of thought being a buy it now and paypal only as soon as they pressed it they would of paid pretty much straight away.

Just wondered if anyone had people that didnt answer emails etc but still paid within the 7 days of auction ending?? It doesnt worry me if people dont pay as long as i can get Fees back not a problem, i wouldnt mind so much if they emailed me and said they dont want it at least i would know!

I have had people do this and it's usually because of some family emergency or they have bid and then gone away for a few days. So I wouldn't worry just yet. They usually pay in the end

Yeh then there are the timewasters who just purchase for sake of it.

Like everything as its disadvantages and advantages, when I do buy it now,I set it at immediate payment with Paypal then that sorts things.Get odd person saying they not got Paypal so then I'll say yeh I supply item if you mail in cheque/p.o,I got reasonably good f/b so people know they not going be ripped off.

I agree. I have had the same problem. I would give it a few more days but would just send another email in case the first wasnt received.

Well this person i think is buying for their ebay business which is on another account, reason i know is from the email address of the person and when i put it in the address bar as a www addy it goes to Ebay shop.

I just want to know either way really, also the persons feedback is hidden and has a few negs, although not from in the past mth from what i can see.

How does this work?

It means they have to pay immediatly because unless they do the item is still for sale, i looked at it and thought nah as i offered cash on collection - fool i am!

Do you mean that sarcastic or what?

If not then I tick the box for immediate payment by Paypal, then they can't purchase without paying for item 1st,that saves people just buying and not paying up,can't be helped with auctions tho.

If they haven't paid after a while you can raise a none paying bidder alert with ebay.
I think you will then be allowed to list it again for free.

I will not bother with Ebay for 2nd time, i dont think will probably try sell on here, as it was a Nintendo Wii, i might try ebay if no luck, if even less luck then i dont know what to do lol

I always use that option for electrical good i sell - it saves all the hassle from scammers etc.

I have never heard of it, will have to investigate.

You need to let them know its a non paying bidder or they will charge you for a final value fee as well

Obviously if you want to sell it for profit so you can't sell here on HUKD.

My friend keeps dabbling in these Wii's and she as no bother selling them locally through Ad Trader, she had 2 phonecalls alone today asking for a Wii.

7 days from their purchase you can report and then takes about another week to get your ending fee back. I'm waiting for 3 payments 99p 99p and £1.70 I think,2 them people are now not registered users.

My grandaughter keeps asking for a wee :whistling:

Im not really in for a profit tbh, i sold it with 3 games ontop of wii sports, etc wiimote, classic controller, for £220, it was a bit more on Ebay due to fees but i would sell it on here for £200 and £20 RMSD with paypal fees covered in the £200 as well, so only £20 over what they sell in shops really.

Although could try locally and see what happens, thanks for the tip!

The feedback stands at...

Yeh the fees are hard to get out of postage costs with these higher end items,if you send Special Delivery charge £25 ( pay £19 ish ) then you can only get your Paypal fee out of excess postage.
There Gumtree ( run by eBay I beleive ) and Friday Ad too, aswell your local adverts in shops etc or yeh try here as your not asking for more than it all cost to buy elsewhere.

Original Poster

Rather try local shops, local paper etc, than gumtree!!

I now know 110% that this person is buying for their company - and they are active, soooo might try emailing AGAIN and ask politely if they wish to carry out this transaction, and if so when roughly, i just want to know either way thats all i ask.

Maybe as you said he is buying so much that has been unable to get throgh all his emails

They might be holding out till wage day to pay or something, you get that sometimes.

Original Poster

Just emailed them, just to say, not particulary bothered if they want it or not as long as i can process the claim for fvf etc back after the 7 days, and also said i would like their address for courier so i can box it up, to send once they paid if they wish to still carry out the transaction, i think its just the fact it is alot of money that i worry, i am always a worrier, think i grew with worrier tattooed on my forehead lol

I have, i put it on my listings when im selling a phone or something as there is so many scam buyers theses days

Yeah. I've had this happen to me twice. It's fools with 0 feedback who bid on your items for fun. There are settings which you can put to only allow members with 5 feedback or more to be able to bid on your item. The people who do this are so immature...

I didn't think that this is possible?

I have seen listings that include these words, why don't just select that option?

I sold an item on ebay last week and then i got an email a couple of days later saying they would pay me the next week when they got paid. I wish people would ask if thats ok before bidding as i was waiting on the money, thats why i put it at a lower price on a buy it now auction

Original Poster

I am kinda disappointed it hasnt been paid for yet as i want a PS3 and this was where the bulk of the money was coming from (random post as i want to reach 800 posts LOL)

its really frustrating when people use a buy it now then take ages to pay. if they cant afford to pay for it straight away, just wait dagnammit!

In my case, your statement is false. The best I can limit is buyers with -1 feedback.

sometimes people are waiting for their own stuff to sell so they can use the cash in their pp account rather than have to dib into a credit card ,

This happens quite often unfortunately. I have never worked out why some people do things this way, but when you sell enough on eBay, you soon learn that as the saying goes, there's nought as queer as folk! ;-)

I usually send a polite reminder on day 3 or 4, then if I still haven't heard anything, send another polite reminder on day 7 warning them that if i don't hear back from them I will have no choice but to start a nonpaying bidder dispute, and then if I don't hear back, I start a NPB dispute on day 10.

I'm a softy though, so you can start your NPB dispute on day 7 if you want.

I just find it weird as its a business that bought it, that just has a seperate account for buying to selling because obviously they buy to sell for more, thats why i think the buyers feedback is hidden

Yeh thats annoying,I know what you mean. They should speak up 1st if they think they going be any longer than a few days really. I always pay for my goods as I usually wait till near end to bid.

I'm straight in after 7 days if I not heard anything.I waited for someone to pay for 3 weeks last mth,I was very patient, she said she pay, then something else happened and I sent through a message, and explained situation and I was ok about it.
I've got to be careful too what I say to ppl cos of what I sell at times.

I had one buyer who didn't respond to e-mails or pay after buying a BIN item, so I did the whole NPB thing and left a neg. 3 weeks later I got the most indignant message from them demanding to know why I had given them a negative, and why they had a strike against their name. When I pointed out that they hadn't paid or responded to e-mails, they said something to the effect of "well of course I haven't, I've been on a 3 week jungle trekking holiday and haven't been near a computer!". :w00t:

timewasters, this is exact reason why I have immediate payment by paypal with buy it now listings,I've been round and round with ebay trying to do it cause less bother as possible but you do get the ppl who mess sellers around.
