Following my arguements over the faulty car stereo that was fitted, ebuyer sent me a new one which i got this morning, rung the fitting company who are now saying its only one free fit voucher per customer and youve already used yours!
Yes maybe but the stereo fitted was faulty and as ebuyer replaced it it now has a new invoice number and a new free fit voucher, they wont budge, been on the phone twice to the fitting company and twice to ebuyer, theyre now saying i have to pay the £39.99 to have the faulty one removed and the new one fitted, back to square one! god i could scream

Do it yourself, 5 minute job and that's including a tea/fag break

Thats ridiculous! They fitted a faulty stereo, they should change it.

As I said yesterday though, its not hard to do yourself...

if i got out there ill rip the soddin thing out the mood im in!
Ebuyer refuse point blank to accept it back unless the instalation company that fitted it remove it and i get a job number, the new free fit voucher is apparently not valid as its one per customer (the voucher doesnt state this tho)

I'm getting peed off now

maybe not but unless i have the ref number for the job of removing it ebuyer wont take it back, think this is the last thing i will ever order from them:x
i was told the fitting company would take it out when fitting the new one using the free fit number in which case id have the job ref number but oh no theyve changed their minds now and its an extra £39.99 pppffftttttttt

If I were you I would contact Trading Standards as you have been sold an item that is "not fit for purpose". They are really helpful and sometimes the mere mention of TS to the supplier/fitters might just spur them into action.

if the voucher doesn't say its 'one per customer' it sounds like they're trying to pull a fast one. Have you spoken to the boss at the fitting company?

yes and he was an arrogant piece of poop who wouldnt listen to reason and told me if i paid them the £39.99 they would book the job but until then they were not doing at as ive already had my free fit
I wanted to put a customer comment on their website but see you have to email them to the company and only the "good" ones get put on site

tried that yesterday and thats how i managed to get a replacement as they were originally refusing to give me one but after speaking to TS and then calling ebuyer again they backed down and sent me the new one which i got today

Tell TS what has happened and let them deal with it...if the voucher doesnt say 1 per customer then they cant argue

I thought that too, but I think if it doesn't state either way its up to their discretion. Sounds like they're a bunch of cowboys TBH, I mean £40 to fit a headunit is a complete joke!

Looks like its (a very unfair) company policy

if paid by credit card do a chargeback with your bank for the full amount and take your money elsewhere.

goods are not fit for purpose and its up to them to arrange reposession at their cost

OP can you not post in your old thread as it will bump it to the top again for people to read rather than posting a new thread?

With regards to the stereo....post your location and I'll come do it just to stop you whining :w00t:

1. Phone up Ebuyer.
2. Get the manager.
3. Go psycho!
4. ?????
5. Profit.

In all seriousness, all you need to do is phone them and make sure they've got on their system what they've agreed to then tell them that the company are refusing to do it so they need to phone them up otherwise you'll have no option other than to take it out yourself.

ebuyer told me to pay for it if wecanfit say so!

TS have advised me to send a recorded del letter stating they have breached the sales of goods act 1979 and that they must arrange to remove the faulty one and replace it with the new one at no cost to myself

thanks for the offer of removing it but its missing the point they wont accept it back unless wecanfit remove it!
I paid via paypal with funds i had in my account so cant go down the cred card chargebck route

Anyway, if you've got the replacement already what's the problem?

Just take the old one out and new one in and send it back.

She doesn't know how. What we need to remember though is that these companies have to pay x amount for fitting removal, then the same again because it's faulty in such a case they should bring this up with the company that made the stereo so they are probably going to have to absorb the cost, meaning they have lost money. I certainly wouldn't expect a small radio shop in my town (which has already closed down) to do this, but as it's ebuyer I guess it's okay. Can't you get a male friend round to do it for you or something? They probably think you're being funny about it.

Me, I think you should stop getting worked up about it all, get the manual out, and remove the faulty one yourself. I don't think you're going to get anywhere with eBuyer or with TS, unless you can find a clause that says that the free installation also becomes free removal if it turns out to be faulty. With every PC component eBuyer sell, they expect you to remove it from the system yourself, and I can't imagine their mindset being any different here. How hard can it be to undo a few screws and pull a cable out?

Do you have 2 stereos after paying for 1, i.e the faulty one (still in your car) and a replacement.

Or have you bought 2 and you need to get a refund on one when its taken out

Original Poster

my husband is an auto electrician so its no problem sorting it out but the bottom line is ebuyer wont accept it back unless wecanfit remove it and i have the job ref number,i have 7 days from today to return the faulty one or ebuyer have told me they will bill me for the replacement

Swap them over, send back the original and say you're returning the 'replacement' as you refuse to pay an extra £40 AND you'll see them in court.

i was just thinking the same shengis til i checked the new stereo and it has a serial number etched on it and another serial number sticker on the box so not so sure i would get away with it but what the hell im gonna rip it out and send the faulty one back in the new ones box,in effect i will only have the 1 stereo i paid for so what can they do once ive returned the faulty one

Haven't you got the original box? I really can't see why they're being so difficult about this. Just because it had 'free fitting' you were under any obligation to accept it. Probably just want to blame the fitting company

Halfords offered me free fitting too, didn't accept it, didn't invalidate my warranty

I religiously keep boxes for a year before recycling them, makes it easier to take back under warranty. I know it's not necessary but I think they appreciate it

Original Poster

I guess its a lesson learnt for me,thought it sounded too good to be true a £30 stereo with a free £39.99 fitting voucher lol that should of made alarm bells ring

I used to hoard boxes too but found i soon ran out of cupboard space and the lofts full of spiders so now they get recycled asap

How is the TS letter coming?

How is the TS letter coming?

im not writing one now, they advised me to but by the time i get it written and sent off and give them 7 days to respond my 7 day period for "owning" 2 stereos would be up and i would be billed so im just gonna rip the faulty one out and send it back and hope to hell the replacement isnt faulty!

So long as you send the faulty one back I don't see that they can do anything really, I bet they send faulty ones on purpose so that you get these problems and end up paying for the fitting.

well hubby knocked off work early tonight has removed the faulty stereo and fitted the new replacement and that one does exactly the same and skips 5-7 seconds of each track!
