Economy 7 tariff.

Found 20th Oct 2010
Have just had my statement through from Npower for my electricity pre payment meter & noticed I'm on Economy 7 (which I'm sure I haven't always been)
Anyway, to change back to a domestic tariff will they charge me? After googling it seems they can charge as they may or may not need to change the meter? Anybody have any experience with this?
Thanks

err you must have always been on it as you will have two meters, one for day time and one for night time, do you heat your home by electric?

Just have the one meter. But it's showing 2 rates, as above. I may have been on it since I moved in, can't say I've noticed tbh, I don't ever remember seeing it on my statement
We use gas for our heating

Hhm I dunno then...the statement says Tariff - Economy 7 Electricity / Prepayment then night rate first and underneath day rate which is obviously more expensive

then you need to contact them and sort this, you do not need to paying high rates for day time use, you will not even be using the electric at night when its cheap

and if possible get yourself off prepay meters, they cost so much more for your gas/electric

Oh I will be, I use 4 times as much during the day than at night. Just wanted to know if they'll expect me to pay to have it changed. I know pre pay are generally more but tbh it's easier atm

I hate pre-pay meters 2 of my friends are on them.

I tell them to change but they are so stuck in their ways

The elec company's try to get you to pay £100+ to put in a normal meter. Few years ago I was in the same situation and I just had to deal with it.
I used to be on economy 7, about 2 years ago I rang and asked if I would be better off on a normal tariff, I was told I would be so asked to change. I had to describe or give a meter number or something like that (apparently there are some meters that do not need changing they can just change the tariff). They came and changed it at no cost to me.
