Edinburgh Hogmanay - New Years Eve

I am looking to go away for a few days at new year and do something different on new years eve. We have been looking at various cities but seeing at we live only about 50minute drive from Edinburgh we thought we should probably go there. They have the big street party and the concert in the garden. I've been onto the official website and there is no mention of tickets it just says tickets for 08/09 now closed (duh!). It doesn't say if they are all sold out or if more will be available. Anyone know anything about this?

I know tickets for the Glasgow street party go on sale normally about October and I know normally the tickets for Edinburgh go on sale in January for the following December but I'm not sure if more become available. I want to book hotel soon but not point going to Edinburgh if we can't get tickets. Any help appreciated!

they will be sold out by now-maybe put a request up/get em on ebay. alternatively book a hotel on princes street where the party is.

Remember Princes street is all dug up for the trams, won't be as good this year.

Sounds like I might be off else where Had a look on Ebay, there was nothing

I don't think the tickets for edinburgh will have been put up for sale or anything yet, it's usually about October/November time is it not?

Is it actually on this year? Heard it was scaled back last year.

I also wouldn't do the glasgow one either. you cant hear any of the terrible has been bands/popstars they wheel out and the entire surrounding area is a sea of tracksuited neds legally drinking out of plastic ginger bottles spoiling for a fight.
Only go near glasgow city centre if you have a club, pub or party that you know you will get in or have bought tickets beforehand.

I definately will not be doing the Glasgow street party after last time. We went to the Glasgow one few years ago and guess what........it was the one that was called off at 5pm! We had booked a hotel, had no tickets for pub or club and worst of all........I only had big jumpers and lots of layers with me. It was awful, we ended up in a crap bar full of like 15/16 yr olds and I had a pair of skinny jeans on, boots and a big black jumper everyone else had fancy dresses on!

Anyone know anywhere good to go at new year?
