edward fire extinguisher throwing student jailed for 2 years 8 months.

Student protester Edward woolard jailed today for nearly 3 years for his act on November 10th.
A fair sentence I believe for this heinous act that could have easily killed.

    Oh and

    inb4 the anarchists.

Way OTT compared to sentences given to some that have actually hurt someone.

Those women involved in the paedophile ring yesterday got less didn't they.

Inb4 Plum says it was a setup and the police to blame for standing below him.

Hopefully a few more thugs will be rounded up and given similar sentances.

Very harsh. He needed a good slap on the wrist but this sentence just seems very vindictive.

I'm sure I could find a hundred more leanient sentences for arguably more serious crimes which actually involve real physical or mental harm.

He had no criminal record had never been to a demonstration before....seems to big a sentence considering no one was injured by his actions.

should have just got the police to drop an extinguisher from a roof top. give him a hard hat though, keeps h&s happy.

Local guy got killed after being punched once, the guy who punched him is up for manslaughter now. Do we give heavy sentences to everyone ever involved in a fight as there's a possibility of serious injury, it's just luck that the person punched doesn't suffer a serious injury.

Link to case of someone with no previous convictio randomly hitting someone and receiving a harsher sentence? I've seen someone get a good whack outside a pub in front of police, guy was arrested as expected but never received a custodial sentence,

How is 2 years 8 months OTT for attempted murder....

What is your point though this sentence too harsh for hurling fire extinguisher or that sentence too soft?
The 36 weeks is way too soft imo but this one is fair

From the roof of a building he broke into and at people gathered below, big difference!

    Mod & Ed

I know who I'd rather have loose on the streets out of a young student who was being very stupid or a woman who sexually abuses children, this sentence may be the correct one for the crime, but not all sentences are, the justice system needs a complete overhaul

you clowns are actually unbelievable, you think it's totally right that he is getting 3 years for throwing a fire extinguisher that didn't hurt anyone (don't give me the "what if" bull crap - because at the end of the day NO ONE GOT HURT)

Yes it was stupid and yes he should be punished but FML, 3 years? pedophiles, rapists, drink drivers and killers get off with less or nothing at all.

The system is corrupted and it's sad that ya'll don't see it.

He looks like a big soft nancy. I guess our prisons are not too similar to the likes of TV ones such as Oz, but I bet he will have a hard time anyway. It will be a painful lesson for him, but one that he will learn.

    Will he be someone's b*tch?

Tbh its a life sentence as who would employ him. Also it took a likely few acts of criminality to find himself in Tory hq on the roof with an empty fire extinguisher.

I'm all for punishing crimes in a suitable manner but what is 3 years in prison going to do for this bloke. Surely in this day and age there must be a more sutable punishment for this type of crime. It's going to end up costing the tax payer £100,000's to keep him there, seems madness to me in the 21st century.

    whatsThePoint

Nothing to explain, everyone knows that for each just sentence as in this … Nothing to explain, everyone knows that for each just sentence as in this thread there will be an unjust sentence that doesn't fit the crime, we all know its a mess but at least they got it right this time

I disagree and think the sentence was right. Other sentences are far too lenient.

Wow it amazes how people seem to have such strong support for an unjust sentence, yet fail to even acknowledge stories about drunk drivers, peadophiles and murders getting off for nothing?

I mean if you care so much about the welfare of the public (as your stating by supporting the sentence) then surely pedophiles abusing their children, drunk drivers etc... should be of higher priority to you, Should you not be as vocal about those stories?

They should also get stronger sentences, yes, but we are arguing over this sentence so irrelevant really.

(although i also think its a bit harsh but makes a change from being too lenient!)
