    EE Home Telephone and Broadband Plan Ending

    Hi. As above, I currently pay £22.85, but the price will go up some time next month (£33.45). I am on the following plan:

    Broadband and Anytime + Mobile Calls (1000)
    Caller Display
    Line Rental Included

    International Calls to 30 international numbers
    Inclusive Minutes to UK Mobiles (1000 minutes)
    Anytime Calls 01/02/03

    Current Broadband Speed 2 Mb/sec

    For Broadband speed we estimate that your line can support download speeds of between 13.0 Mb/Sec and 15.5 Mb/Sec. Your Minimum Guaranteed Download Speed will be 3.0 Mb/Sec.

    12 Month Contract

    I don't know if my current plan is good, so ideally, I want something cheaper (either the same tariff (or better) or cheaper than what I am currently paying - whichever is better). I've tried clicking on "Change your plan" on my EE plan online but there's nothing.

    I have no problems with EE, and would like to know if anyone has a better deal on EE that I can get?

    Cheap, but that guaranteed minimum says it all, however, you say your speed is BELOW this, so something is wrong, either with the line or your equipment/house wiring.

    Do you have a BT IP plate fitted to the master socket??

    Minimum speed 3mbps on a 17mbps package?

    Ofcom rules say you must get at least 8-9..

    You sure the guaranteed speed is only 3?

    Ive also been with EE for broadband and had terrible speeds. I know a few friends who've been in the same boat and what your paying is ok but not amazing. If it were me id see what other providers were offering.

    i dont know about EE, but plusnet BB with anytime phone plan should be about £22 pcm, if that helps

    I'm currently on live chat with EE, and at the moment, I've been told that the line is capable of a consistent 2mbps (whatever that means.....) - the adviser is going to make some enquiries.....

    He said that he can see that the speed I have does appear lower than what EE would expect from the line, lower than the minimum guaranteed speed.

    They said they can give me a £5 discount every month (£17.85 instead of £22.85). They also said they will need to investigate the situation with the broadband speed, and to arrange the line tests which means our live chat conversation will be interrupted..... I'm told that I can carry on the conversation via mobile, but I'm hard of hearing....

    I'm currently with EE and I pay £31.50 for fibre optic with all the above. Maybe call them and see what they can offer. I was on a similar package where I was paying around £27 a month for what you stated below. £4.50 more for fibre, was a no brainer!!

    Currently on live chat via my iPhone. Chatting to an adviser who is sitting next to the previous adviser I was chatting to on my laptop! They are currently doing their tests on my telephone line.

    The agent said: "The test has raised the issue to Openreach to investigate further, as it seems there may be a problem on the copper line that's causing the slow speeds. You should hopefully see an improvement in the speeds over the next few days as they work on the issue. If not, please get back in touch and we can check for an update for you"

    Agent also said: "the average speed showing for your exchange is around 8mb/sec. I understand from the information you provided that you're getting much slower speeds than this."

    "Any speed tests should be ran through a wired connection, as speeds will drop due to a wifi connection. Also, the more devices there are connected to the router and therefore sharing the connection, the slower the speeds may become"

    Agent said: "The speeds you're getting are higher than what we have showing as being expected for your line. Based on that, Openreach are unlikely to find a fault or be able to increase the speeds. The speed based on the previous test was on a speed of under 2mb/sec. It seems you're currently getting speeds much higher than that"

    Agent also said: "The speeds for your area on a fibre connection (which would be more expensive) are showing as estimated speeds of 14.5 so based on the speed test, moving to fibre in your particular area would not result in quicker speeds than what you currently have"

    Sound like there was a configuration error at their end, possibly enabled ADSL1 instead of ADSL2 for some reason.
    If your speeds have been that low for a long time, they should be offering more than £5 off future bills.

    My sister had an issue that took them 18 months to sort, she now has free EE ADSL for life, no matter how many times she moves house, she only has to pay for line rental and calls.
    (Dont ask me how she managed it).
    Stupid thing is, I told them exactly what the fault was on the day we reported it, they just ignored me for 18 months, sending her a new router every few weeks when she complained it hadnt been fixed.

    The deal they've given me:

    Broadband and Anytime Calls at a discounted price of £26.00 (which includes £18.50 line rental). This would include a new minimum term of 18 months (instead of 12 months). If they remove the anytime calls aspect, with maximum discounts, it will be £19.50

    So, as my contract as ended, the price will go back up to £34 instead of £22.85, unless I take one of the deals

    £19.50 deal is broadband with weekend calls only.....

    Relative is out of minimum term contract and monthly rolling payment is £22.25/m for same EE package as OP except 500mins to mobiles rather than 1000.

    Do you actually need the minutes?
    If not, you can find cheaper deals with Sky

At the end, I went to the Retentions department and they offered me £22 instead of £35 on the same package, except I get 1500 mobile mins instead of 1000, and 40 international calls instead of 30. But anyway, it's better than the standard £35.00. Last time I switched broadband providers, we were left without broadband/telephone line for nearly a month

    How long did you comit to that arrangement? It sounds reasonable. I doubt you would significantly improve on that bundle unless you moved providers and benefitted from an above-norm joining incentiive / cashback sweetener.
