Eee PC 4G - Faulty keyboard

Hi. I have an Eee PC 4G which has a faulty keyboard and would like some advice please.
Several of the number and letter keys are not working, would this be a problem with the PC or do you think that removing the keyboard and cleaning it would solve this problem.
Also, one of the letters has come off and the plastic mount bit is missing and the left/right click button is missing, do you know if these can be bought on their own.
Thanks.

1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 0. Esc, a, s, d, and there's a few others that I can't remember at the moment.
I have checked the number lock and it wasn't on.
Thanks.

[FONT="Verdana"]Dependent on the warranty of your netbook (when did you purchase it mate?) you might want to consider sending it in for repair by ASUS or if its out with of the warranty window you might want to check out the ASUS EEE PC User Community to see if they have any links to resellers you buy a cheap replacement keyboard from.

If you check out this link and go to the link under "EeeUser ASUS Eee PC Forum".

Hi, thanks for your reply. It is out of warranty so I'm having a go at fixing it myself.
I found the Eee PC forum earlier and have now removed the keyboard and washed it. I'll leave it to dry now for a couple of days and hope this fixes it.

it is the flexi cable inside the keyboard section that went wrong. you could simply change it by yourself if you could get the flexi cable.

or...

you can use USB keyboard like i do. cheaper than the flexi cable.

Are you sure? The eee was only launched in autumn 2007 and they all come with two year warranties so none of them bought new are out of warranty yet. Presumably the only ones out of warranty are those refurbished by Asus and partners and those who's warranty has been voided. (upgrading the memory doesn't void the warranty).

Several of the keys on my 4G keyboard broke and I could tell it was a hardware problem because one of them was a key that functioned in the BIOS (or in this case, didn't function). I contacted Asus and they fixed it under warranty.
