    Eggshell paint recommendation

Can anyone recommend a good woodwork paint? I'm thinking possibly eggshell as our house is Victorian so I would like a traditional look rather than a gloss. We've used Farrow and Ball cornforth white on the walls which is a grey colour so would like white woodwork. I'm a bit overwhelmed by the choice of different eggshell paints. I would like one that doesn't yellow if that is possible!

Water based paint will prevent the yellowing.

Simple emulsion paint with PVA in it. Get builder's PVA use for plaster because for that use it'll be priced cheaper. Get decent emulsion and do some samples, don't use the wall to sample on because if you put to much PVA in it'll be glossy and hard to shift. If you end up doing it too glossy you can always get some 0 grade wirewool and rub it down. Perhaps then apply a but of wax.

Diamond Eggshell has the finish and performance you are looking for. A cheaper option is their Armstead Durable Acrylic Eggshell. Comes in about 25% cheaper than the Dulux brand, but still is a good option.

Can I jump in here does anyone know whether you should put primer on or something before gloss painting over older gloss.

The reason I ask is,I painted over some gloss paint that had been on maybe a year or so,I thought I would freshen it up before having a new door fitted.

I used Johnstones and it's gone a creamy looking colour within a couple of months,I painted it straight over the gloss that had been on a year, should I have put primer /undercoat on it first and then glossed it as it now looks worse then when I started

Thanks. Dulux diamond eggshell seems to be the winner on this thread!
Would this be ok to use on a wooden door or should I go for a different type of paint. The doors were brand new (modern 6 panel white wooden) before we moved in however the panels have gone slightly yellow so I would like to repaint the doors

Yes. Use some wet and dry sandpaper. Toolstation cheapest. Dip in water and rub doors to break surface and gets key for paint. Get some sugar soap... It's a chemical cleaner unlike soap.... wash over doors with it. Give it a coat of waterbased Undercoat. Leave 2+ hours to dry. 1 or 2 top coats of diamond eggshell.
