I bought a panini press from Lidl yesterday and surprisingly it has no on/off switch. You have to connect/disconnect the plug/socket switch to turn it off and on. I have never seen an electrical device with no power switch.

Anyhow - on turning off the socket switch to the device it emits a small blue spark. On reading around this the spark is totally normal from connecting/disconnecting something to the circuit (never knew) - it's just usually you don't see it.

Anyhow - what do those in the know think? Would you have a device with no power switch. Although I am reassured by the online experts that this blue flash is normal I remain uncomfortable with it and would not have a product where the circuit connection is at the plug and not the device switch.
