    email help anyone? thanks :)

i am trying to open which has an attachment and this is the message i get...
this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.
create an association in the set associations control panel.
i have not got a clue what to do here and normally wouldnt bother as much but it is instructions and directions to get somewhere which is very important and any solution will be repped cheers guys :-)

The computer has a list containing file types (.zip .txt .doc .jpeg .etc) and each file type has a program associated with it (.doc - Microsoft Word, .zip - WinZip, etc.)

It basically telling you it doesn't know what program to use to open that file.

you need to see what format the file is in and see if you have a program on your PC to read it, for example jpg.

You need to install an app the type of file that it is. You can tell what kind of file it is by reading the three letters after the dot (like file.scr , where scr describes the filetype). D'you want to tell us what the three letters after the dot are, and me, or whoever gets in first, will tell you the right app to use?

What is the attachments file type?

this is what i am trying to open
    Directions_to_from_Glasgow (Road works Version).doc (42KB)

It is a .doc file so it opens with Microsoft word. If you dont have Word you can download OpenOffice for free from download.openoffice.org/

You don't need to d/l Open Office just to view a document, slight overkill IMO.

hmnn, yeah I mis-read it, thought it said it was a viewer for word/excel/ppt all in one. I guess something like that would make too much sense for MS to release :whistling:
