End of Airline credit cards

I have had an Etihad guest credit card for years and enjoyed the 2 miles for £1 AMEX spend or 1 mile for £1 VISA spend to regularly shave money off flights or upgrade to Business class.
I recently received a letter from MBNA ( who handle credit cards for all airlines in the UK afaik ) that the Etihad partnership is coming to an end.

I checked around and can see that other airline credit cards are affected. This effectively means that you can no longer use an airline credit card to earn miles.

Has anyone else been affected?

Probably because not enough people were using them.

All of them seem to be underwritten by mbna. Find another card provider.

It seems the EU 0.3 % fixed transaction fee is to blame.

What is your problem with EU? When you are not blaming eastern Europeans for everything bad that happens in UK you blame the EU in general!
