if you are on benefits you may be entitled to discount on your utility bills. British Gas give quarterly rebates and Southern Electric give 20% discount on bills. N Power do not do anything for people on benefits, but ring your supplier and check if you are eligible:thumbsup:

Energy suppliers give discount to people on benefits but not one tells you about it - so ask them instead

Is there a link or statement somewhere that mentions this as if you were going to contact them you need so have something to go on.

think you will find brityish gas do its own tariff for people on benefits, its called Social tariff or the Essential tariff as it is also known, i believe the rates are slightly lower, but there are no other benefits to this tariff, no discounts for duel fuel, etc,etc

just ring your supplier and as if they do special rates for people on benefits

on benefits does not mean we are broke we are just very careful and do not waste money cheek !!!!!!

My husband is a manager for an energy retail company & you only get a discount if you are in fuel poverty, ie, 10% of your incomings is spent on heating.

they probably get a lower tariff because they have the highest charges through not being able to do direct debits and using the silly power cards they supply at higher charges than other users
