energy saving bulbs

can anyone tell me why energy saving lightbulbs only give off a candle-like glow regardless of the wattage you buy. I am all for the saving the planet/re-cycling etc but it would be nice to have abit more than light on the matter and where have 100 watt normal bulbs gone?

Its the fact they take thirty minutes to get to full speed that bugs me. I switch the light on then have to wait ages for it to actually produce light! They really bug me too!

It is difficult to get the old 100 watt bulbs now, production of these is being stopped later this year, (looks like they have done this early!). I was also disappointed with the performance of the new energy saving bulbs until i got hold of some 20 watt ones (equivelant to 100 watt). they are a lot better, Tesco recently sold these at 5 for 45p so i bought quite a few, have a look for them and try them.
