Energy saving light bulb like this?

    Hi... picture below

Just wondering if there's anyway I could get an energy saving bulb like this please? It's not so much the money saving thing (although that'd be a nice bonus!) but more to do with the fact that my light takes four of these, currently at 50w which generates a hideous amount of head, and three bulbs have blown in the space of around 8 months which is a pain.

    Cheers!

Edit - Obviously check they are the right size if not that type of bulb is available in dfferent sizes

Edit again - These look to be your size (GU10)

THESE NEED A STEP DOWN TRANSFORMER BUILT INTO THE LIGHT FITTING AS THESE BULBS ARE 12 VOLT NOT 240 VOLT,THEY WONT DO FOR STANDARD 240 VOLT FITTINGS

Many thanks guys, is there anyway I could get some bulbs without needing the stepdown transformer? The lights were a bit of a nightmare to fit, so I imagine the transformer would be pretty bad too

and here we are for youfrom screwfix at gu10 replacements 11w =50 but at £6.44 each the trouble is will they have the same nice down-light you get from from spotlights ?

I think your best bet is to go somewhere like B&Q and ask.
You don't seem to know what bulb this is so you need someone to tell you.
This is best done by letting someone see the actual bulb rather than guessing what it is from a photo.
    No disrespect meant here. :-D

you could try these, LED which are more energy efficient than energy saving bulbs although I am not sure what sort of light they produce
    B&Q do a white and a blue version £8.98 for a pack of 2

Cheers redheap, that seems like it could be the right ones, but I'm not sure they're the right size, they look kinda different?

No disrepect at all there jumpingphil, you're completely right. If it weren't for the fact I lived around an hour away from B&Q I'd of gone and took a look already, maybe the (small!) local Woolworths might have something, fingers crossed.

Have you tried IKEA? They have lighting sections instore and i know for a fact they sell these bulbs as i used to work for the company but im just not sure if they do the energy saving ones. But it might be worth a look if you have one near you.
