Out of interest, thought I'd check out the HUKD link.
    Sorry but what a con.
It's telling me I can save £30+ pounds if I switch to a deal with higher unit rates! oO

I really really dislike that you cannot get a straightforward table with unit rates on the websites of most Utility Companies. Instead they lure you in by asking to enter your details. They always overestimate what you could be saving, in my experience. I always try to get the actual unit rates and standing charges and do the sums myself.
And that is how I am on the best tariffs. Because I did the sums myself and didnt believe the hardsell.

It is they assume you would be on standard rate when your current contract ends hence the 'saving'

I must admit I have maths qualifications but when it comes to power bills I can't be bothered to exactly work it out and trust the Compare sites . For instance - Standing charge - how much ? first so many units - how much ? remaining units - how much ? etc ,etc . In general ,unless you are an ultra low user the cost per unit (which will be the majority of your bill) is the best guide .

Don't forget it doesn't matter what they set your DD at you will pay for what you actually use so will get the DD automatically readjusted every 6 months depending on your actual usage .

very true and so misleading to most, its a real con and put into place by ofgem (keep it confusing ofgem) all that lot do is back the utility companies. Ofgem cost us all a lot

I was £170(and climbing) in credit half way through a contract with British Gas so I asked for it back which they did.
Next day day I had an email saying that they were going to double my d/d.
Back on the phone and squashed that.
I finish my contract with them next month and I look like breaking even.

The mse one is good. Shows unit rates if you want to see and compares with your current deal.

Seems SSE were screwing with me then. Though I already knew that. I was barely using any gas, (before it got cold) yet I got a letter last month stating my gas DD was increasing to £64.

That was my cue to leave!

Have you got meat on the mind miles?

We use flipper, I know people say do it yourself but each 3 months is a pain, they do the legwork and keep you on the lowest tariff, ours has dropped £1006 for this year.

Sainsburys Energy is owned by British gas.
Compare yous new tariff with CO-OP fix for longer Feb 2018.

I find you do not need to switch company at all, only tariff.. there is very little in it with the right tariffs between companies.
