England to win the world cup 10/1!!

England are STILL 10/1 to win the world cup. Ultimately, we drew our first game, and today best the 55th placed team in the world(Panama) 6-1. So unless we have a nightmare injury crisis, we have pretty much won it already, 10/1 is not far from buying money.

I know there have been better prices previously, but England have just beaten one of the finest teams in world cup history and it seems everyone knows it except the bookies.

Tattoos are being inked as we speak, celebrations have already started, and it won't be long before the bookies realise just how amazing we are. maybe their WiFi is down or something and they haven't seen the result, but get on it fast before they refuse to take bet on this pretty much confirmed bet.

Op is obviously trolling.

Not worth encouraging, let him get his rocks off on his usual haunts . . . . mumsnet specialist.

Thanks @jonnyh132 I've moved this to Misc as it's a tip (literally) rather than a deal

I'd rather put my money on Lewis Hamilton winning the F1 championship.
Is it justme but I think 10/1 odds are shocking

Someone has already bet on England by the looks of it.
Yeah i say this is fair odds. They beat Tunisia which are decent but I would have been surprised if England lost and they beat Panama which, yeah they should have beat too. The BIG test is against Belgium on Thursday when they will play a top team (ish). I mean I more surprised of Croatia is 14/1 which I am more surprised of and they beat

odds are not just a measure of likelihood but of popularity
may as well just take your money and flush it down the toilet

Just want to make absolutely clear that I'm taking the Mick out of the people getting tattoos and generally just being idiots because we beat a low quality side. Interesting fact, their first ever competitive international goal was scored against England in the same game.

I put £50 on Francea few years back, and put £10 on Belgium just got good measure

It worries me that you even had to explain that.

This wasn’t their first competitive goal scored........ they didn’t go through qualifying drawing 0-0.
This was their first goal in a World Cup. Given its their first World Cup they’ve appeared in its hardly surprising they’ve not scored before.

I get where you're coming from, Jonny, and maybe a few peeps are going a bit over the top with the patriotism, but the other side of that is the appallingly apologetic Englishman - those Englishmen who go around almost apologising for being English - and that, to me, is a greater evil.

No one should go through life ashamed of where they were born, ashamed of their country's history or it's people, the people of today are not responsible for the people of yesterday, each and every person is only responsible for their own actions.

Besides, the former inhabitants were no better or worse that any other of the world's former inhabitants.

I'm not sure it is, don't get seduced by history and 1 too player. They only qualified by the skin of their teeth and have looked poor for a long time.
The point is just reinforced with the mistakes info(fort competitive goal for example, I meant in the actual competition but worded it wrong).

That point is, they are a terrible team, as said, a first world cup ever terrible team. its a great result one we're all happy about, but it doesn't make us world class all of a sudden. People need to learn to enjoy it for what it is instead of just adding pressure.

That was mentioned in the post you quoted.
horrible odds. yet uruguay are still 31/1 on betfair.
