hi,

i got an epson dx8400 and also a problem with it.

when i put in colour ink carridges, its like their on timers and run out after a while even though ive hardly used them.

plus the most annoying thing is that i cant print anything in black and white even though my black ink is full.

anyone got a trick to avoid the message popping up when i click print?

the way i see it is that its a scam to get people to buy ink they dont need/want.

Agreed. My old Canon photo printer simply says your colour ink is empty continue printing in black & white/your black ink is empty continue printing by mixing 3 colours to create black?

Might be time to shop around for a new printer, that doesn't drain you of every last penny you own. :w00t:

atleast you get the option to print in black and white.....im not even getting that even though my black ink is full.

I've got one too, exactly the same problem. I rarely print in colour but the cartridges show as being used and won't let me print in black only. It's going in the skip when I get a new printer even though it's not that old, rip off. There is a software fix on the net but I haven't tried it yet, ssclg.com/eps…tml. I'm going to try it when it next reports that the colour cartridges are empty again

Buy your inks from Tesco...buy Tesco branded ones that you can take back if they expire on you with loads of ink left...I've done this a few times since owning an Epson

I wuden't recommend this but I once wetted the end of a cotton bud and cleaned the nozzle on the cartridge , also had to soak it a little aswell.
I sympothise against the rip-off.

Tesco sounds like a good idea n1
