Epson RX620 all in one printer not working

Found 18th Oct 2008
Comes up with message 'some parts have reached the end of their service life'. Have rung Epson, who say chuck it out, it's due to the ink pad being saturated. I have a Continuous ink system with lots of ink left and quite like the printer but is it unfixable as they say?

Want to get rid of it if it is - fed up looking at it sitting there, unusable!

Thanks!

I'm not sure how your CIS works (whether or not it intercepts the ink waste tube) but I do know that Epson printers "guess" how much ink has found its way to the belly of the printer where the pads are, based on the number of prints etcetera.

The counter can be reset on many Epson models but your mileage may vary.

If the pads are indeed saturated you may find yourself in a very sticky mess if you continue to ignore the fact that the pads should be replaced.

By the way you're looking to reset the "Protection counter", right click the tray icon to access the various functions.

If its likethe R300 theres a small rectangular panel at the rear, running justbehind that flap is a tube that waste ink travels through to the pads, its easy enough to hook this tube and divert it to an external pot/tub. Like ]THIS but diy.

Looks like this is an option forums.cdcovers.cc/sho…379

epson are way too conservative with the waste pad life. i've seen printers that have had this counter reset on half a dozen occasions before the pad actually was saturated.

sscserve will easily reset the counter and bring your printer back to life

Agreed ! used to fix Epsons like this all the time, had one customer who chucked 3 away before I twigged why they kept buying new one's DOH !!!

I've cleaned an Epson that had not yet reached the protection counter yet ink had already found its way outside the waste ink tank and the pads were very saturated.

It was quite old maybe they're using it to make more money now, I doubt anyone would be surprised.

Thanks very much for this advice. Thought there might have been a sales pitch! The Epson call person tried to sell me a refurbished printer at half price but while she put me on hold, I found Amazon were selling the same one new at the same price! I haven't had a go yet at resetting but will certainly do. Been SO busy but driving me mad sitting there inactive so on list of priorities.

thanks again!
