Everton agree £75M deal with Man Utd for Lukaku

    Signing of the summer!

As a United fan I was getting increasingly irritated with the apparent back and forth with Real Madrid for Morata. Apparently it was a banker that Lukaku was heading to Chelsea.

Out of nowhere Big Ed Woodward finally proves himself and gets this deal done. Proven Premier League striker who is only 24 yet World Class.

This impacts so much. It's a big fingers up to Perez and Real Madrid. We won't be going after Morata and they won't be getting De Gea. This also means without selling Morata to someone else for big bucks they won't be able to get Mbappe

Also, it frustrates Chelsea and hopefully means we won't be going after Matic and can instead focus on the much better Fabinho from Monaco.
I've got a feeling Morata will go to AC Milan and Conte will quit Chelsea!

Where's our resident Stamford Bridge season ticket holder now?

    Separate deal.
Happy for us to give Rooney a golden hand shake and let him join them on a free.

United may have finished sixth but that's old news and we are still in the Champions League group stages.
This is a signing of intent. We are creating a team that could rival Barca/Madrid/Bayren in a few seasons.

Yikes, how much??? Is he really worth it? With this crazy high price I feel being a Gooner the signing of Lacazette is a good deal

    Really hope this is true.

I will, begrudgingly, say that it does seem like a good signing.
Not sure where he will fit in Mourinho's team though - has he ever played in a 6-4-0?

The money is irrelevant in new era.

But yes I'd pay £25M more than Lacazette. Laca is decent but unproven in a much tougher league whereas Lukaku has been banging them in for seasons. Remember he came of the bench for West Brom in Fergie's last ever game and got a hat trick. Think he was only 18 or 19 then?

There is so much you have to take into consideration - talent, potential, age, prior history, relationship with other players, marketability, etc etc
    Lukaku ticks all those boxes.

    ???

We have on out and out striker - Rashford.
The one position where we needed a player was up top.

    Jose will stick with 4 3 3 or 4 3 2 1

Excellent bit of business if it goes through

I think the angle may go along the lines of Mourinho signing a player for circa 3 times the fee he sold him for in 2014 - with a healthy % now going back to Chelsea via a likely sell-on clause. Add a reference to Mata in a similar, if indirect fashion, plus a potential excessive fee for Matic, and concluded with the line about Mourinho not being the same since Real Madrid.

I think that will just about cover it.

You're right even though all of those are simply excuses.

The fact is we have and always will be a bigger club than Chelsea and can still draw in talent like Lukaku.

I understand where you are coming from as Lukaku has been in the premiership for a while but I dont think he's is worth it. Hope im right as I dont want Man U up above us this season

Excellent, Proven goal scorer, No brainer. I was shocked when Lacazette signed for Arsenal.

Morata might have been another Di Maria.

It would be nice to get our signings over and done with before our preseason tour.

If Lukaku isn't worth £75M then Lacazzete isn't worth £53M

Never understood why Chelsea sold him in the first place, he proved in his loan spells at the Baggies and Everton he was a class player.

Would have won the Golden Boot if Hull didn't crumble against Spurs near the end of last season.

Well done on potentially signing player who doesn't show up in the big games - when you need a game changer, at £75M you're not getting that. As a Chelsea fan it's a huge relief we haven't fell into the trap of paying that for him.
In fact, what's more, is Mourinho's clear discontent at Lukaku having missed the penalty against Munich in the Super Cup (ultimately his last kick of the ball for Chelsea) - I cannot envisage a great working relationship from the offset, in fact cannot envisage this being a Mourinho approved first choice signing.

Don't know how much I want this deal to go through. Lukaku is a flat-track bully. Good at scoring against the littler teams, but has proven repeatedly that he can be quite comfortably managed by some of the better defences. Though, you might argue that it was those games against the weaker teams, and not being able to score in them, that cost us a title challenge last season. So maybe in that respect he is a perfect fit?

He needs to learn some touch and close control, but he is young still so he might be able to improve at that.

£75m is the right money. Jury is out on whether lukaku is the right player I think.

    Who else is available?
Aubemeyang is probably off to China or PSG.
    Lewendowski is staying at Bayren.
No one else from either Madrid teams or Barca are available.

Morata isn't as good as Lukaku. He couldn't really force himself into Juve or Real Madrid's (twice) plans.
He is a good player but if you're splashing the cash then always go for the more proven player who also happens to be younger.

I'm not sure. There maybe isn't really anyone I'd rather have. Lukaku isn't as good as aguero though. He isn't as good as Costa. He isn't as good as Sanchez. He isn't as good as Kane.

Not saying those players are available, but they all came from somewhere that wasn't the premier league, and none of them cost £75million. I know we got Rooney from Everton, but that was as he was breaking through the ranks.

If lukaku turns out to be the best signing ever and wins golden boot for the next five seasons on the trot then I'll be chuffed to bits. I just don't know whether that's what's going to happen or not.
