I'm trying to find the cheapest price for a single ticket from Exeter (any station) to London (any station), for Friday 9th October. Do you know any sites or are there any promotional discounts available anywhere - any help given is appreciated

This is an interesting read :

One main point to note below :

The cheapest way to book tickets

Booking direct at a station or via the rail company’s own website is usually cheapest as there’s no booking fee; plus you may also find some extra online discounts.

If you're using the booking sites, beware, you’ll pay more ... the Trainline charges a £1 booking fee, plus an extra £2.50 for credit card payments. Raileasy, on the other hand, charges a £1 booking fee on every purchase over £10 (£2 if it's under a tenner), plus a 50p debit card fee and 2.5% for credit cards.

thanks for the info - i was just looking on the first great western website and i read some of the terms and ocnditions and one bit says - we cannot guarantee the price we state on this website is the price you will pay - lol, whats the point in stating it then !!!

Book it on ]http//ww…com to avoid charges. The lowest fare is £12 on the 15.00 from Exeter St Davids to London Paddington arriving at 17.24. That is actually cheaper than the lowest fare on the (slower) service available to London Waterloo at ]http//ww…com.

A little cheaper still at ]http//ww….uk - Advance Single for £10.80
