Existing Sky Customer seeks New Box...

Literally. Our old one died the other night in a storm of audio crackles and buzzes. It was a basic and very old Sky Digital box. What are my best options for upgrading or replacing it? I thought I could go into Curry's (yuk) and buy one off the shelf but apparently not...

BTW I have a TiVo and a three different freeview tuners in the stack of silver boxes, so if anyone recommends Sky Plus, it'd need to be a good bargain!

all guidance appreciated, tia

PMed you

Phone them up and ask to cancel because your box is broken and can't afford a new one, they'll give you a new one just to keep you

At first they wanted £60 for a recon box, then they wanted £30 and eventually after several phone calls got one for free!
But I'm sure that I paid about £30 in phone charges!!!!!!

Thanks to all for the advice. Went straight to Cancellations and said, I want to cancel the service because my box has packed up, he checked my account and said, we can send you a new one sir. O, can you? I said in my most surprised voice.

Result. Big thanks to all.

No problem glad I could help

Ahhh, but when you get your phone bill, if you highlight the charges for caliong Sky, and send it in to them explaining that you were phoning because their equipemnt was faulty, and show them that your equipment has been replaced so they have therefore accepted responibility, they will refund your phone charges. I got £18 back from them at Easter :-D
