Does this really matter when our current account deficit is stupendously high at 4.6% of GDP (Q2 2017)? Coming 7th is the equivalent of a sticker for brushing your teeth well when visiting the dentist. If we were top for starting new businesses then that would be worth celebrating, but 14th is hardly something to shout about, especially when it's greatly needed to stimulate domestic growth.

Easy mistake I'm sure.
We've only dropped one spot from last year, hardly newsworthy.

What you mean after all the remoaners economic DOOM LIES!

Silly errors aside, I would have thought the economic reality in Venezuela is of greater concern to the British electorate. Once South America's wealthiest country, subsequent socialist policies so lauded by J.Corbyn and J.McDonnell have led to;

Ease of doing business - 188th of 190

Starting a business - 190th of 190

Getting electricity - 186th of 190

Protecting minority investors - 177th of 190

Paying taxes - 189th of 190

Trading across borders - 187th of 190

I would welcome the views of any HUKD members who support our Opposition Leader and Shadow Chancellor.

I meant that it isn't newsworthy as we only dropped one spot, anything else you think I meant is the product of an overactive imagination.

I don't support labour but I would think there are other countries in the world with socialist policies that I am sure labour would prefer to model themselves after.

We dropped one spot last year down from 6th in 2015 to 7th in 2016. We retained our 7th place this year.

Also, I read of this in "the media" yesterday, so it's not exactly a huge secret or something that is being covered up.

The list I have has us at 6th last year, though it also mixes up the usa somehow. It does say that it is open to change though.
The ease of doing business is what has made the UK, specifically London, such a success.

Business has led the way, unencumbered to deliver exactly what foreign entities want. It has been business that has dictated policy, hence our economic strength.

Brexit flies in the face of that by presenting obstructions and deharmonising the economy at almost every level. So when people like Dave point to our economic success and reports like this, it amuses people like me greatly because he's exactly the type of person who is making the UK a far more difficult, uncertain place to do business.

You can speculate on unnamed other options if you wish, but the post was specifically about the appeal of Venezuela to Corbyn and McDonnell. For good measure, Ken Livingstone is President of the V.S.C, and Diane Abbott is a patron

“Venezuela is seriously conquering poverty by emphatically rejecting the Neo Liberal policies of the world’s financial institutions. Success for radical policies in Venezuela is being achieved by providing for the poorest, liberating resources, but above all by popular education and involvement.” J.Corbyn 2009

“When we celebrate, and it is a cause for celebration, the achievements of Venezuela, in jobs, in housing , in health, in education, but above all its role in the whole world as a completely different place, then we do that because we recognise what they have achieved.” J. Corbyn 2015
Brexit was only about cleasning. We wanted our country free of EU involvement etc.

Significant economic damage is 'price worth paying' according to Brexiteers.

You have not got a job, don't like your pay or prospects, well get out while you can!

Don't forget it is bi-directional.

Significant lateral trade from EU selling to UK, always disregarded by Remoaners.

Actually trade is what 'Remoaners' focus on. We focus on the economy, whilst people like you focus on your grievances regarding how unfair life is.

This report that you've missed the point on highlights once more that the UK economy has grown because it didn't place obstructions in the way of trade. What the Brexit vote did is allow people like you who have never really figured in business (because you weren't allowed) to have a say.

It would be like asking someone to stop licking a window and perform heart surgery.
British business continues to excel despite being dragged back by successive Uk governments....and by creaking infrastructure.
