External Firewire 2.5" SATA HDD / Case / Caddy / Enclosure

Looking for a self-powered (i.e. does not need external power / uses power drawn from the Firewire BUS) 2.5" SATA enclosure.

The cheapest I can find is this one at Scan:

    scan.co.uk/Pro…ace

    (£27.82 inc VAT, p&p extra).

I have a 160GB 2.5" SATA drive spare from a Macbook Pro upgrade and so I'd like to use this as an external drive without spending too much cash. Can anyone recommend a product to me?

    Hi

Had the same prob with a spare 2.5" Harddrive from my ps3 & wanted to use it as a backup drive for PC so bought one of these from e.b.a.y. seller from hongkong but arrived within 7 days!! only £5 delivered BARGAIN.

That is excellent value; although it's not Firewire.

The issue is that my spare hard drive needs 750ma and USB only provides 500ma max. So I need to plug the drive into two USB ports in order to drive this disk. Firewire has 1500ma so can easily drive the disk

I've added some REP to you for finding a SATA drive enclosure and reviewing it
