External SSD for booting computer from

Hi I have an iMac with a fusion drive, and I want to be able to boot windows from an external SSD (mainly to be used for gaming).

I’ve looked at the Samsung X5 but I can’t justify the cost of it.

Could anyone please recommend a fast SSD that isn’t as expensive? I do have a thunderbolt 3 port.

Thanks

I just use an Integral P Series SSD in a generic USB 3.0 caddy on my iMac as a boot drive. I don't use it for gaming though, just general purpose use.

Do you ever notice it being slow? Thanks

No, but then again I'm not doing anything demanding on it, just general browsing and media viewing. I went with an external SSD because my iMac has a HDD, really I would have liked to have an installed an internal SSD but that's not an option unfortunately.
