is it possible to extract ISO files from the zip folder onto the harddrive without the need to burn to a CD?

you want to run a ripped image?

    You need Daemon Tools.
It creates a virtual CD drive, you mount the image on it and the computer thinks its a disc so it runs.

Btw OP I am not at all knowledgable on the subject only used Daemon tools once to do the same thing so you should consider the other posters advice because some of them might be better qualified to help
