where ever has a free eye test voucher

I've been to specsavers, boots and vision express. All three, in the same week, and each one gave me an eye test prescription/result complete different from each other. From my experience, any of them

SpecSavers seems fine. Get free eye test from coupons in newspapers or check their website.

It's all down to personal preference really. However, I will say this - I used to go around the various high street stores getting a free test every year or so, but after a very poor experience in Specsavers I decided to pay for a test at a local opticians. The difference was huge - took longer, was much more in-depth, and I felt like I was dealing with someone who actually cared about getting things right for me. I've never been back to the high street chains since.

Thanks all. Don't really mind about the price as I got a voucher from work.

Check with your employer. I'm pretty sure most large companies have some sort of scheme that allows employees to get eye tests for free, but may depend on your job role.

In that case as dealpickle said I would find a local independent optician who has been in the high street for a long time and take a test there. There is no beating service that you will receive. The attention to detail will be second to none.

Going to a proper optician is a real eye-opener!

If you are just small numbers on your prescription the cheaper shops can do you glasses fine - as a minus 12 lense I go to Boots as other shops can't cope! Free tests at Tesco (they only go up to minus 10 so can't help me)

    Local optician is usually better

been going to tesco and never had a problem. ohh and its free

Wow Caroline, how bad is your eyesight? I'm 0.5 with astigmatism and sometimes find it difficult to focus on things. I've never heard of minus 12.
I'm not dissing you I'm just curious.

I do agree , i always used a local opticians, moved abroad for a great many years and on returning i went to Asda. have used them for 3 years now and very pleased. They picked up on a problem and referred me to the hospital for further treatment

Which? did a survey in 2014, and unsurprisingly independent opticians came out on top -
