Faded bumper! how to restore it?

i have got a black plastic bumper on my card that is almost grey now, any advice on how to get it back to black. I have seen a bumper on ebay for about £30 but if i can spend less than that it would be great! Do these back to black sprays actually work? any help would be great

ill go and take one now

There's a spray you can buy, that restores the colour... I got mine from one of the Pound shops... (not sure of the name of the product, mind)

It only lasts a few weeks though, and then you have to re-do it, but it looks brand new when done!

A few mothhs and then i didn't bother again, i didn't care what colour it was.

back to black is a silicone pressurised spray and not v good. Go to halfords and get some bumper shine. Its a gel with polish bits in it which makes it black, and stays black.

a friend of mine is a valet and he gave me a tip a few years back. boot polish. its very easy to put on and doesn't matter if it gets onto the paintwork as you can just rub it off. it really works and last months (unlike back to black) ii usually use the scuff type polish that you put on with a foam applicator. just brush it onto the bumper and wipe off any excess that gets onto the paintwork.

speaking of boot polish - it works with leather (eg sofa, chair) too. just somehow burnished into the surface and the nasty cat scratch look is minimalised (.. well ok until the cat is disciplined).

I would recommend that back to black, my OH used it on his van and it came up well. Failing that get it on to 'Pimp my Ride UK', hear they do them up quite well ... if you want to drive round with flames on the sides of your car!

yeh its about the right quality to go on pimp my ride and the flames sound good, maybe chop the top off and make it a cabriolet

i would also use the back to black but instead of spraying directly onto bumper,i spray onto a shoeshine sponge and then wipe over the bumper(saves getting spray all over the paintwork)

Black in a flash is often advised as being the longest lasting in most reviews.

Forget all the fancy rubbish - go to your local supermarket and buy some SMOOTH peanut butter.

Rub into your black trim, wipe off, buff.

Job done and it lasts a lot longer than Back to Black or even Autoglym.

Did Poundland exist 8.5 years ago when this was posted?

As Tinca said Smooth Peanut butter does work I've tried it.
