I'm guessing its a damaged charger?

I had a problem with a laptop like that about 5 years ago, what had happened was the power control chip on mobo was fried so it wouldnt work. it was due to having it on my lap all the time and when I moved foot it caught cable a lot damaging the slot where the cable goes into.

took it to pc shop 2 years ago and they wanted £100 to repair it, and this was an old Pentium 2 laptop! in the end I just binned it.

Yeh i used to have mine charging 24/7 so maybe its the same thing with me ry.

Are you sure its a year old + ?

    Or is it under.

Do you have a warrenty with them still?

The solutions simple but hard, thats if its the same, get a free estimate done at a pc shop, then ask whats wrong.

The problem with mine was its a tiny chip so needs a tiny soldering iron to solder it on.

Simple 1 chip but hard to install

I have had 3 chargers and they all stop working after 4-5 months as i charge it all day.

Ring them and tell them that its unnacceptable they may be lienient.

For what? I dont need a new charger, the one i have is perfect only used for 3 days before the laptop totally konked out.

Take it to PC World. see what they say. You dont have to go with them.

I heard bad things about PC World

Just ask them whats wrong with it and how much it'l cost to get it fixed - dont have to go with them, just see whats wrong.

As for the battery the problem with that is you left it on charge too often, you are supposed to remove battery if powering from mains as it gets a "false" charge and kills the battery really fast.

I'm thinking of selling it on these forums as im not really bothering trying to get it fixed, how much do you think i will get

    Intel Celeron M 360 / 1.4 GHz
    40gb Hard Drive
    768mb RAM

    rest of details ciao.co.uk/Del…701

    There lies your problem!

Keeping the battery always on charge and never allowing to discharge, will kill the battery and by the sound of things kill the charger also!!

so do you think a new battery will solve the problem?

Do you think it would be cheeky to sell for £130 as buyer would probably only need a new battery

Yes considering Overclocker is selling one for £90 which works just needs screen cable reattached

No, the state of the battery shouldn't matter when you're running it off the mains - over time batterylife will decrease but that's not the problem here. It sounds more like something has broken or come loose internally, I'm kind of concerned you've needed three new chargers in a year as that suggested to me something is wrong somewhere, that's not normal at all. I work for a relatively large company and I can't remember the last time I had to replace a laptop charger, that includes machines that are several years old.

Yes because it's misleading - you don't know it's the battery for sure and to be honest I don't think it is the battery. If you wanted to sell it without getting it checked over first you'd really have to sell it as not booting, but you think it's possibly not a complex fix. That way you cover your back if someone does buy it but can't get it going.
