My wife is after the new fire HD 8, just released. She has the old Kindle Fire HD 7" 2nd gen.
I have looked at the specs, and apart from the extra inch and a slight weight saving, i really cant see much difference for a device thats 3-4 years newer.
Yes it has 1.5Gb ram compared to 1Gb, but the screen PPI is now less and the avaiable storage is now less. Both 16Gb, but the new version must have more rubbished installed.
Is the new version worth getting compared to the one she has.

Every inch counts........

Size does matter, 
after having a old 7 inch HD she would like the newer 8 inch HD as it would proberly perform better

I think so, an 8" is a much better size than 7" in my opinion and the 50% entrance ram will make a difference.

You'll also get a new warranty and sell the other one for £20 easy, making the upgrade less than £70.

Oh and you'll make the wife happy which is also an added bonus.
