    Firefox only showing blank pages?

    Morning all,

Just fired up the pc for the morning and Firefox is showing just a blank white page on every tab?

If I refresh it shows the activity at the bottom left as it loads from the page but nothing ever appears in the tab!

I've restarted FF and the pc but nothing changes.

Can someone (anyone) please suggest a fix!

    Thanks

Uninstall then reinstall, wont take any time at all, probably the first step I'd try if you haven't.

Just tied to uninstall (twice). Windows says it's removed it, so I reinstall, but when it restarts its just the same? Same tabs open, same ext's installed and same problem??

Not sure what's going on now? Everything else is working fine!

I've run a virus and malware check, all came back clean.

Use Geek Uninstaller to wipe your machine of Firefox. Download the free version, run the program and double click on mozilla firefox. That should remove all traces of Firefox from your system. Then reinstall.

Files in your profile may be corrupted. Create a new profile and see if the same problem occurs. To create a new profile, follow the instructions at:

    kb.mozillazine.org/Cre…ows

it "could" be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked.

    check the permissions
in firefox, Tools > Options > Privacy > Use custom settings for history > Cookies select 'Show Cookies'

Have you tried any other browsers? Is it just Firefox causing you the problem?

You might want to look at running another browser anyway. I think people are generally migrating away from Firefox as it can be a little slow and bloated.

I personally run Safari and I'm very happy with IE, but I think Chrome is probably the popular choice now.

    Thanks for the help, guys.

Geek Uninstaller did the trick and remove the 22,000 files the FF uninstaller left behind! The problem now it trying to restore FF without restoring the problem. I've backup using MozBackup but if I do a full restore I get back to blank pages (not really a surprise). So I now have to find out what's the rouge ext.

Tony, I'd love to ditch FF, but having used if for work and tweaked it over the years I can't get Chrome to do the same. For example, I have a 3 lines of tabs at the top of the screen. Last time I chaecked Chrome couldn't do that. It might not sound a lot, but having all the tab visible speeds things up but quiet a bit!

Have you tried disabling your addons/plugins and going through them to see if any of those is causing the problem?

I've restored without any addon's or extensions. The result is the same, blank web pages! The info in the bottom left of FF implies its loading the page elements but nothing is ever displayed !

If you are able to install Firebug, you can use it to monitor network traffic in order to diagnose the point in which network communications had failed. It is a useful tool to monitor why network traffic is being redirected, although determining which app or extension is causing this is more difficult. Have a look at getfirebug.com/net…ork. If you are able to capture the results of the network traffic monitor, I can take a look.
