First Ebay / Paypal Dispute.....

Feeling pretty ripped off at the min

Sold a Xbox 360 game on ebay, the buyer was from Belgium where I've posted to before and had no problems so wasn't really worried.

Anyway, it took over 2 and half weeks to receive payment despite me sending a couple of messages asking what the delay was. She did respond once in such garbled english that I couldn't understand a word of it.

Anyway, the day after I received payment posted the game off by airmail. Kept the postage receipt as proof of postage.

Next thing she opens a paypal dispute last week, some two weeks after posting the game, saying that she hasn't received it. I respond via Paypal stating that I had the postal receipt etc, but they came back within 24 hours and stated that they have decided in favour of the buyer.

Wasn't a really expensive game but I am out of pocket and did my best by the buyer whereas she was messing me about, probably did receive the game but wanted to scam me

Plus if I leave her negative feedback she will do so in return to me and will ruin my 100% positive record - gutted

You don't have proof of receipt though do you?
What were Ebay/Paypal supposed to do?

Yeah but I do have proof of postage but that seems to mean nothing to Paypal/Ebay

Ideally everything in future would be sent recorded delivery but the P&P prices would put people off

paypal / ebay acted correctly. Cant see the issue here.

then claim from royal mail...

as for you giving them negative feedback? Good luck! Sellers cannot leave buyers anything but positive feedback.

as a seller on ebay i can relate to this as it happened me twice, paypal will always take the buyers side even if you have proof of posting.
My advice would be to put a claim forward to royal mai, you will get the necessary form to fill out at the post office, and if she is genuine in saying she didn't receive the item royal mail will compensate.
I have claimed 4 times for lost parcels and 2 of these were international items, good luck

I can understand how you feel, but proof of postage is just that and not proof of receipt. Unfortunately its a risk that's incurred when you sell by ebay. Some sellers always quote delivery as registered. If you don't want that service, you inform the seller and accept responsibility for any loss!

well I'll see if I can make a claim for compensation from Royal Mail because I do have the proof of postage

No they don't. OP should of scanned in and uploaded proof of postage receipts immediately. This is what I done and the refund then got held until the royal mail claim was completed before being released to the seller so I was not out of pocket. Well, I now had 20 quid in stamps rather than 20 quid in my paypal.

what a joke, getting really fed up with Ebay now, stupid rules and high fees

sellers on ebay can no longer leave negative feedback only a buyer has that option which sucks when your being ripped off

Stupid rule, I know. It's stop stop leaving negative in retaliation if you receive it. But in the case of the buyer not paying in 2 weeks you should be allowed.

Thanks for repeating me.

just respond to the feedback she leaves if negative...

and to be honest you should always post by recorded.. and if its not worthwhile to post by recorded delivery becausethe profits are so small, either trade in somewhere for credit, or bin the item

I'd have cancelled the transaction after 5 days, why wait two and a hal … I'd have cancelled the transaction after 5 days, why wait two and a hal weeks to be paid lol.

Thats what I said in my message to her but when she did respond the only bit I could interpret was her request not to and she would pay asap, wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt

Buyers cannot leave negative feedback

I'm getting rather tired of this newfound unsympathetic schadenfreude attitude of HUKD. To put it in perspective, there's another forum I know where one member got screwed when she sold a ticket to someone, sending first, and never being paid. There, the people didn't lol at her, but clubbed together, each chipped in a quid or two, and managed to make her all her money back, with some to spare, which went to charity.

What's gone wrong with this place?

No one has "lol'd" at the OP.
If you want to chip in, by all means start a thread offering to donate to anybody that has lost out(The OP has not been scammed). I wish you well in your venture.

No use just saying that. Put it into action; go on, give the OP some money.

paypal still took the buyers side and refunded

if you've been selling to people outside of this country it was only a matter of time before you got scammed

i stopped selling on ebay last year, its crap now

I don't sell / post outside of the UK. Too much hassle.

Besides, you've got the receipt so you can claim through Royal Mail.

Leave the buyer positive feedback. They paid late, but you can mention this in the comments. If they leave you negative, appeal it, and comment on the feedback to defend yourself.

I thought RM only paid out if the buyer completed an item not received form.......
